I have created a calculated column which creates a URL which calls a Column called "Pitch Name" and from that will create the URL but I have to remove the space/spaces between words from pitch which needs to be displayed as a URL. Example of this is "Coca Cola" needs to be "CocaCola" so the site name can be"http://sitename.com/CocaCola". I've tried using the TRIM function but that doesn't work. I have tried the REPLACE function aswell but that seems not to work either. Any Solutions?
(Taken from an attempt to edit an answer:)
Update: The REPLACE and FIND Functions work but only if the string contains the amount of the desired character. And if the character doesn't appear the same amount of times the formula has asked for you will always get the string #VALUE which means it hasn't worked
SharePoint Calculated Fields use Excel functions, not .NET functions, so you probably want to use SUBSTITUTE rather than REPLACE.
Try something like this:
=SUBSTITUTE([Pitch Name], " ", "")
Update:
According to Xue-Mei Chang in Calculated Field Error:
The "SUBSTITUTE" function is not available in SharePoint.
As a workaround, he proposes:
For the "SUBSTITUTE" function, you have to use a combination of the "REPLACE" function with a "FIND" function. The "FIND" would return the position of the desired character in the string, which would then pass on to the "REPLACE" function so it can replace it with the new character.

I need to work through how to take stored procedure functions from
region-us.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES
and modify the backticks that default to coming through around the project and place them around the dataset.schema.table()
The reason is more for uniform results across our system than a technical error need.
currently when I run this query
SELECT
replace(ddl, 'CREATE PROC', 'CREATE OR REPLACE PROC'),
FROM region-us.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES
where lower(routine_type) = 'procedure'
It will return the below:
`project-data-sandbox`.schema.MySP()
`project-data-sandbox`.schema.YourSP(MySP)
`project-data-sandbox`.inv.partnumber(orderid)
`project-data-sandbox`.inv_part.part_number(part_id)
I have tried the below query
SELECT
REGEXP_REPLACE(ddl, r"project-data-sandbox`.", "project-data-sandbox.") AS replaced_word
, REGEXP_REPLACE(ddl, r'`([a-zA-Z]+(-[a-zA-Z]+)+)`\.[a-zA-Z]+\.[a-zA-Z]+\(\)','Apples') tester
FROM region-us.INFORMATION_SCHEMA.ROUTINES
where lower(routine_type) = 'procedure'
I get part of what I want. However, the problem is our stored procedures can be named any sort of names and they could require objects to be passed to them.
I added the tester column to see if I could replace the project string with another word (or regex) but it isn't even replacing it with apples yet.
which I would want turned into this:
`project-data-sandbox.schema.MySP`()
`project-data-sandbox.schema.YourSP`(MySP)
`project-data-sandbox.inv.partnumber`(orderid)
`project-data-sandbox.inv_part.part_number`(part_id)
I'm working through Regexp_replace but I'm having difficulty figuring out how to get the backtick between the parenthesis and the last letter.
Thanks for any help!
I have, in a database, records that are serialized PHP strings that I must obfuscate emails if there are any. The simplest record is like {s:20:"pika.chu#pokemon.com"}. It is basically saying: this is a string of length 20 which is pika.chu#pokemon.com. This field can be kilobytes long with lot of emails (or none) and sometimes it is empty.
I wish I could use a SQL regular expression function to obfuscate the user part of the email while preserving the length of the string in order not to break the PHP serialization. The example email above shall be turned into {s:20:"xxxxxxxx#pokemon.com"} where the number of x matches the length of pika.chu.
Any thoughts?
Here is a more complete example of what can be found as serialized PHP:
a:4:{s:7:"locales";a:3:{i:0;s:5:"fr_FR";i:1;s:5:"de_DE";i:2;s:5:"en_US";}s:9:"publisher";s:18:"john#something.com";s:7:"authors";a:2:{i:0;s:21:"william#something.com";i:1;s:19:"debbie#software.org";}s:12:"published_at";O:8:"DateTime":3:{s:4:"date";s:26:"2022-01-26 13:05:26.531289";s:13:"timezone_type";i:3;s:8:"timezone";s:3:"UTC";}}
I tried to do it using native functions but it not worked because functions like REGEXP_REPLACE don't let you manipulate the match to get the size of it, for example.
Instead, I've created a UDF to do that:
CREATE TEMP FUNCTION hideEmail(str STRING)
RETURNS STRING
LANGUAGE js AS """
return str
.replace(/([a-zA-Z.0-9_\\+-:]*)#/g, function(txt){return '*'.repeat(txt.length-1)+"#";})
""";
select hideEmail('a:4:{s:7:"locales";a:3:{i:0;s:5:"fr_FR";i:1;s:5:"de_DE";i:2;s:5:"en_US";}s:9:"publisher";s:18:"john#something.com";s:7:"authors";a:2:{i:0;s:21:"william#something.com";i:1;s:19:"debbie#software.org";}s:12:"published_at";O:8:"DateTime":3:{s:4:"date";s:26:"2022-01-26 13:05:26.531289";s:13:"timezone_type";i:3;s:8:"timezone";s:3:"UTC";}}')
Result:
a:4:{s:7:"locales";a:3:{i:0;s:5:"fr_FR";i:1;s:5:"de_DE";i:2;s:5:"en_US";}s:9:"publisher";s:18:"****#something.com";s:7:"authors";a:2:{i:0;s:21:"*******#something.com";i:1;s:19:"******#software.org";}s:12:"published_at";O:8:"DateTime":3:{s:4:"date";s:26:"2022-01-26 13:05:26.531289";s:13:"timezone_type";i:3;s:8:"timezone";s:3:"UTC";}}
I have been trying to return the first letter of a last name in Access.
I tried this in a query but it shows an error message.
In my table I have a field called lastName.
When I make a new query and open the expression builder I use the following expression:
Example: Left([lastName],1)
It shows the error that it is invalid.
How do I make this work?
Microsoft's Help on String Functions shows that you should be using the following format:
=Left([SerialNumber],2)
If [SerialNumber] is “CD234”, the result is “CD”.
I took a quick look at a few different languages, and they all showed the same format. None of them used a semicolon (;) in place of a comma (,).
I am working in an ABAP program and I have a question.
For example in C# when we have a String variable: string name; , and we want this to be filled with some data from a textbox but also add some ohter text.
For example:
string name = "Hello: " + textBox1.text;,
And I want to ask you how can I do this in ABAP ??? How to add text plus the text written from a Parameter type C?
CONCATENATE and the concatenate operator && will do it as answered by Jagger and vwegert. To do it with string expressions, you use the below where name is the screen field or whatever that has the name in it (it doesn't need to be a field-symbol):
greeting = |Hello: { <name> }|.
String expressions are extremely useful as they can be used to build up complex values without declaring extra variables - e.g. they can passed as directly as function module or method parameters without first assigning to a local variable.
You can either use the CONCATENATE keyword or -- in newer releases -- string expressions. Be sure to check the online documentation and sample programs available using the transaction ABAPDOCU, it will save you a ton of seemingly basic questions.
The equivalent operator is &&.
So in your case it would be:
name = 'Hello: ' && textBox1->text.
I need to remove leading zeros from a string field in an Access database that is destroyed and recreated every time it is used within a C# program. Most string libraries (even SQL ones) include a Trim function to remove leading or following whitespace. Unfortunately, Access does not seem to have a LTrim(string s, char[] trimChars) or something similar. To get around this, I concocted this monstrosity:
Replace(LTrim(Replace(ADDRNO,'0', ' ')),' ', '0')
But this resulted in an undefined function reference for Replace, even though it is obviously an Access function.
What I am looking for is a way to trim these zeros, either by getting the JET engine to let me use the Replace function or by some other method entirely.
EDIT: Fixed syntax of Replace function. Problem still persists.
I suggest
Val(ADDRNO)
It will return the number portion without the leading zeros.
I think it's just the order of your parameters that is wrong:
debug.? Replace("My string", "i", "o") -> "My Strong"
You can use Trim and Replace.
I'm not sure what context you are running this but this seems to show the parameter order is different and uses double quotes instead of single quotes(I haven't used Access in awhile so maybe it doesn't matter), also try square brackets on column name:
http://www.techonthenet.com/access/functions/string/replace.php
Replace(LTrim(Replace([ADDRNO], "0", " "))," ", "0")
If that gives the same error just try the replace function by itself to narrow down the problem:
Replace ("alphabet", "a", "e")
If this works then you know the Replace function works, and there is some other issue.
Edit: If it doesn't work at all, then Replace is likely a VBA function available only in the Access application, and is not part of Jet. You could try some combination of Left/Right function and chop the string up, this can get quite ugly. I personally would just iterate over the record set and use C# code to modify the values. Hopefully you don't have such a large number of records that this would be a problem.
