configure intellij idea dialog boxes to be maximized - intellij-idea

What is the way to configure intellij idea to open the dialog boxes maximized.
Every time a dialog box is opened, by example a new project dialog box, then I have to maximize the window (by double clicking on the title bar) to see the buttons (next, cancel, help). It is extremely annoying. It is everywhere I have to deal with a dialog box into idea.
I use ubuntu 12.04 64 bits.

I'm having trouble with the resolution of the just the window size of IntelliJ

I am having trouble with the window size of IntelliJ when I'm starting a new project. For instance, when I open IntelliJ and click on import project I don't see the "OK", "Cancel" button at the bottom of the window, plus the window cannot be maximized to full screen and I cannot scroll down.
I tried searching in the setting but I just don't understand what setting to click on. I recently started using IntelliJ and I don't wanna enable some setting that i"m not sure of and get into a new mess.
If you look at the pictures above, you can see the buttons or the options are just hidden because of the window size or the resolution of the window.

How to remove Desktop tab in KDE Plasma

I would like to remove the Desktop tab from KDE Plasma desktop environment and get rid of the context menu. Is there a way to do this ?
Hi Chris, Thanks for the reply. I am running KDE 4.14.8. I am not seeing what you are describing. The context menu is the menu when you right click on the desktop. I think you are calling it "desktop menu". My original snapshot show that menu. That menu changed depending what desktop theme I selected. I could not find anything call Configure Desktop. The closest thing to that would be Default Desktop Setting and there is not there about the Tweaks tab. The project that I am working on is kind of mission critical. It would be just a plain desktop without anything. The only thing the user can do is log on, does his job and log off. All the things that can distract the user will be removed. I got most of them except for this pesky toolbox.
To remove the toolbox:
right-click on desktop to get the desktop menu
select Configure Desktop, a dialog appears
switch to Tweaks tab
uncheck Show the desktop toolbox
You can also drag it to a corner (when widgets are unlocked), then it will not show the current activity name, but will still be accessible.

Quick documentation popup had been replaced by platform window

After 14.1.4->14.1.5 update on IntelliJ Idea I had been faced with an annoying UI feature. When I press quick-doc shortcut (Ctrl+Q for my keymap) a platform specific window appears instead of lightweight popup window. In other worlds I have just floating Tool window (a right panel button had been activated).
My question is how to return plain old popup documentation window with no window title bar.
Just click the red cross button and the window should be restored back to a pop-up.
Or just hit F1 (OS X) or Ctrl+Q (Windows, Linux).

Windows 8 tablet - How to prevent explorer from starting desktop app with maximized window?

When I start a desktop application on Windows 8 tablet, Explorer starts it with SW_SHOWMAXIMIZED.
For example, if you start Notepad from command prompt, it opens in normal window size, but if you do that from Explorer, maximized window is opened. I have seen this Explorer behavior only on tablet PC and I guess Explorer is doing that on purpose.
I understand that it may be useful for many application programs, but I want my program to start with normal size unless user explicitly requests Explorer to open it maximized.
Is there a way to stop this for my application? I'm hoping that there is an API or manifest to do that, but I couldn't find any information at MSDN.
Thanks in advance.
See if this helps:
Open any program that is affected with this issue. Note: Make sure that it is the only open window of that program. eg. You can only do this if you have one window of command prompt open.
Adjust the window size and position to your liking.
While holding Ctrl on your keyboard, close the window by clicking (or touching, for tablet) the X in the top-right corner of the window to close it.
Re-open the program. Your window should now open in the way you set it in step 3.

Change Icon on Task Bar for VB.net

I have a program in vb.net which is ready to be published.
Its a small detail, but I'd like to change the icon on both the published app shortcut on my desktop, but more importantly on my taskbar (like where the chrome circle shows up).
Is there any way to accomplish this?
To change the main icon for your application, go to the "Application" tab under the project property page, and change the "Icon:" combo box.
