OSX iCloud share files between apps - objective-c

Is it possible to share files between different applications though iCloud? For example may I export epub book from my app to make it appear in iBooks or export a document to Pages from my application? And is there any way to get this files or pictures from photo stream in my application?

You won't be able to write files to another's application sandbox, precisely because the Sandbox won't let you write outside your app's container. What you can do is invoke a save panel to let the user export the file as an ebook wherever he wants. He can then open the file in Pages and move it to the cloud there.
And no, there is no API to access your Photo Stream.

Store data into google drive's backup tab instead of drive folders

I need to implement same thing like whatsapp storing all chat history to google drive on clicking on backup button in app. And same restore it in new device as required.
I have look for below references for implementing this, but some how I was not able to do it successfully.
https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/backup.html
https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/data-storage.html
https://developer.android.com/guide/topics/data/data-storage.html#db
Will this data backup option will help in my requirements or I need to do something else?
I successfully developed the file upload to google drive folders, but i need that data in the backup tab of google drive with app name.
can any one guide me how I can implement this or provide me some references?
Thanks in advance..!
You may refer with this documentation. The Google Drive API includes a special hidden folder that your app can use to store application data.
Note: This feature now uses the alias appDataFolder in place of appdata and appfolder.
To be able to use your Application Data folder, request access to the following scope:
https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.appdata
For more information about scopes and how to request access to them, see Authorizing Your App with Google Drive.

Is there a way to create a Dropbox link that opens a file or a folder in the native app?

Basically, what I would like to do is to create a link from a web application that will open a Dropbox file from appropriate Dropbox native app. Google Drive for example allows you to re-format the unique URL for a file such as https://docs.google.com/blablabla which you can retrieve from their API, into googledrive://docs.google.com/blablabla and lets you open the file in Google Drive native app.
I have tried dropbox:// URLs with no success, and have not found any existing conversation on this despite running cross multiple conversations on the same subject for Google Drive or Evernote. Please let me know if it is possible to somehow generate this via API or based on the folder structure etc.
Thanks!

Using dropbox Chooser drop-in to retrieve a non-expiring link to files

I would like to use the Chooser drop-in to select a file from dropbox and then synchronize my app with that file occasionally in the background.
https://www.dropbox.com/developers/dropins/chooser/js
A scenario would be:
List item
User selects file.
File uploads to my app.
User returns to my app a few days later after modifying the file in dropbox.
My app should synchronize and pull down that particular file (without again displaying the Chooser drop-in).
The problem is that the Chooser provides an expiring link to the file:
"direct" is an expiring link to download the contents of the file
I can use the Core API exclusively which would work, however I would have to build my own UI to browse the user's dropbox directory. Ideally, I'd prefer to not introduce the world to another file browser; Dropbox has a file browser - and people are familiar with it. Is this possible?
Thanks,
You can just get a preview link and convert it. See https://www.dropbox.com/developers/blog/53/programmatically-download-content-from-share-links.

access user arbitrary folders with chrome localstorage API

I'm developing an app on Google chrome which could be able to read and write files to arbitrary folders on the user’s hard drive, such as their My Pictures or My Documents folder.
I want my app to has its one folder, like "Users/Username/App", so users could be able to access some of the data, created and edited by the app. How can I do this?
I read the book "Using the HTML5 Filesystem API", so I know it's actually not possible with HTML5 Filesystem API alone. Same thing was possible by opera 11, 12. (see: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/file-i-o-api-for-widgets/). Chorome mediaGalleries API do same things but just for media file but I want to use html, xml and office files
It doesn't sound like you've looked at the list of Chrome App APIs. Have you? Among them is the fileSystem API, which is evolving quickly to include directory access.
