In Silverlight, how do I set focus on a control on page load? - silverlight-4.0

When my Silverlight page loads, I want to set focus on a control. Simple problem with a not-so-obvious solution.
I tried the following with no luck. The page loads but my control does not have focus.

The solution is to use System.Windows.Browser.HtmlPage.Plugin.Focus(). When I call this prior to calling Focus on my initial control, it works as expected. The correct code looks as follows:

AS you can see, the progress window has the external event handler as a property and the cancel button click event sets the property 'CancellationRequested'.
My question is: How can I improve it?
You do not need an external event to cancel your command.
You only need an external event to cancel submit a request to execute Revit API functionality from some context in which it is not available.
Your cancellation requires no Revit API functionality, just your own stuff, hence no external event.
Therefore, you can restructure the whole solution much more simply. Kiss!

How to check if an application is it's first run or not in xamarin crosspaltform

I want to show some pages in the first time app is installed, and the next time when I open the app show some other pages.

For a cross-platform approach, you can use the Settings Plugin
Then you can create a boolean property, for example, DidOpenOnce, and if it is false, show your initial welcome page or whatever. Then afterwards, set it to true.

Xamarin Forms Switch XAML

I'm new in Xamarin and i'm trying to create a simple page with some components.
One of these component is a Switch it works fine by itself but i would like to change the basic text "inactive/active" by "male/female"
I've seen that in Xaml for windows phone there is a ToggleSwitch Component with a On/OffContent property but i can't seems to find an equivalent in XAML for Xamarin Forms
any idea ?

The lack of built in switch options, or at least the lack of being able to rename the switch options, has been asked a few times.
You could go with custom renders, modify the text at the OS level or do like I chose to do, just build your own switch.
This switch is two buttons laid out horizontally with the text Yes and No. The selected button gets a red border, and the unselected a transparent border.

How can I detect when the XAML Slider is Completed?

In XAML I have the <Slider />. It has the ValueChanged event. This event fires with every change to Value. I need to detect when the value change is over. LostFocus, PointerReleased are not the correct event. How can I detect this?
XAML, WinRT, Windows8.1 and UWP:
PointerCaptureLost event should work for mouse / touch
KeyUp event for keyboard
You can create a new class and inherit from Slider. From there on, you can look for the Thumb control & listen for the events you want.

I had a similar issue using a Slider on Windows8/WinRT.
My problem was the following: I was reacting to the ValueChanged Event and performing a long lasting operation (writing asynchronously to a file) after each trigger. And thus running into a concurrent editing exception. In order to avoid this, I used a DispatcherTimer.

You cannot directly detect what the final value is, but you can at least delay the operation until there is a long pause between two updates (e.g. in my case, if the user drags the slider and stops while maintaining the drag for 2 seconds, the save operation will be fired anyway).

ReportViewer - modify toolbar?

Do anyone have good ideas of how to modify the toolbar for the WinForms version of the ReportViewer Toolbar?
That is, I want to remove some buttons and varius, but it looks like the solution is to create a brand new toolbar instead of modifying the one that is there.
Like, I had to remove export to excel, and did it this way:

For removing toolbarbuttons, an possible way was to iterate through the Control array inside the ReportViewer and change the Visible property for the buttons to hide, but it gets reset all the time, so it is not an good way..

There are a lot of properties to set which buttons would you like to see.
For example ShowBackButton, ShowExportButton, ShowFindControls, and so on. Check them in the help, all starts with "Show".
But you are right, you cannot add new buttons. You have to create your own toolbar in order to do this.
What do you mean about new version? There is already a 2008 SP1 version of it.
Another way would be to manipulate the generated HTML at runtime via javascript. It's not very elegant, but it does give you full control over the generated HTML.

You have to add the button directly in the constructor of the class and you can configure the button in your designer.

If you look carefully in the code of the class, you'd see more or less how it works and you could make your changes and make it possible to establish it in other site of the toolbar.

Generally you are suppose to create your own toolbar if you want to modify it. Your solution for removing buttons will probably work if that is all you need to do, but if you want to add your own you should probably just bite the bullet and build a replacement.
You may modify reportviewer controls by CustomizeReportToolStrip method.
