This is the email:
Dear developer,
We have discovered one or more issues with your recent binary submission for "Bla". Before your app can be reviewed, the following issues must be corrected:
Corrupt Icon File - The icon file 72 x 72.png appears to be corrupt.
Once these issues have been corrected , go to the Version Details page and click Ready to Upload Binary. Continue through the submission process until the app status is Waiting for Upload and then use Application Loader to upload the corrected binary.
I have change the file and re-upload the app, but I got the email again.

Make sure "compress png's" is turned off in the build settings.

Can you open the file in Preview, and choose 'Tools' -> 'Show Inspector'? The file may be using some PNG format features that Apple don't like. They want RGB, 8 bit depth, no alpha. See the Custom Icon and Image Creation Guidelines.
For comparison, here are screenshots of the Preview Inspector, showing properties of an icon for an app that was accepted. If you're unsure, post similar screenshots for the properties of your picture.
The "Pixels Per Meter" part may or may not appear. It wasn't there when I first opened some icon files five minutes ago, and now it appears for every PNG I open. Weird.
Edit: also check the icon entries in your 'Info.plist', or the 'Info' tab for your Target. (These are not the same thing, as I just spent several hours discovering. Settings in the 'Info' tab override your 'Info.plist'.) As of the iOS 5.1 SDK, these include Icon file (a string), Icon files (an array), and Icon files (iOS 5) (a dictionary containing at least one dictionary containing an array). XCode seems to add your launch images to this list too. Don't rely on it to keep the list tidy - I have sometimes found outdated filenames in mine.
For further comparison, here's what ended up in the Info.plist of a valid app. Your filenames may be different, as long as they match the resources in your project.

I'm the developer of the app Pillboxie. I have been having the same issue as you, but I believe I may have finally found a solution.
Before proceeding with my suggestion, make sure that your Info.plist and all icon filenames appear exactly as Apple requires. Keep checking the documentation to make sure you're up-to-date, but Dondragmer's recommendation looks correct to me.
I created all my image resources, including app icons, in Photoshop, exporting for web as PNG-24's. Because Pillboxie has numerous images, setting "Compress png's" to YES in the build settings helps me save several megabytes of space. I was getting the same error as you until I tried turning off this compression, as Evaristoyok suggests. However, my app jumped up several mb. I hoped to find a better way.
Tonight I found the following link: article. In it the author suggests to make sure that "Interlaced" is NOT selected in Photoshop when exporting images in the Save For Web & Devices dialog window. I re-exported all icon and launch images with this disabled, and it solved my issue. I was able to submit my app and still leave png compression enabled.

iPhone: bulk move ALL voice memos + ALL pdfs generated from Safari page prints (pdf-exports using "Books") to pc

voice memos:
I have 100s of voice memos that I recorded using the Apple voice recorder standard app and I want to get them on my pc altogether in one go.
pdfs:
I often save mobile Safari pages as Books which are then automatically saved (very quickly and well-formatted) as pdfs. On a website opened in Safari, you can choose the "send to"- button and then the orange Symbol for books. I have houndreds of self-generated pdfs in ibooks, and I have googled and tested for a longer time how to transfer them to my pc (see the details of these tests in the answer section).
Is there any trick to bulk move ALL voice memos in just one go + ALL pdfs in Books to the pc in just one go? I am happy about ANY way to reach this.
Please mind: I do not want to save every voice memo / pdf, piece by piece, in a cloud or app nor send each of them, piece by piece, by mail. This costs too much time and nerves and is not a bulk move.
I found a working solution in Decipher Backup Browser 14. This program might not be the only one achieving the aim, but it does the thing. Whoever finds other programs, please add an answer.
It simply reads out the data from the iPhone backup that you can create with iTunes. The program offers extracting all voice memos, as well as extracting all PDFs in "All PDFs in Backup". In the full version, you can then save them in one go to your pc. Thanks go to the pragmatic e-mail help including the screenshot.
Another possible solution perhaps is to sync your iBooks with iCloud - perhaps, because there is no working test, neither on Windows nor on macOS.
#### Testing the sync of the Safari pdfs:
(I originally got the info of the possible sync on macOS from the Decipher company, but I assume this is a simple misunderstanding or outdated.)
I sync iBooks with iCloud, iBooks are part of iCloud's "Manage Storage" option in my iPhone Settings, and still I do not see the pdfs there. On Windows, I do not see any iBooks sign at all in iCloud. iBooks is supposed to be hidden in iCloud Drive according to https://apple.stackexchange.com/questions/296462/locating-the-ibooks-folder-in-icloud-drive?newreg=1d6ae7995129403b99e57fe74feae430, but I could not succeed with the help of that link, the answers there are for Apple macOS command line (macOS bash). Then an additional investigation turned out that even if there were a hidden folder on Windows (which does not), it would not help: #ankii was so kind to test this on macOS, the needed pdfs cannot be seen in the macOS hidden iBooks folder either. The simple reason why all of the normal file transfer tools cannot help, but only those which give you the contents of the iTunes backup, is because the needed pdfs ARE only in the backup. :)
When you delete such a "Safari-pdf", it will ask you whether you want to delete this from iCloud or if you only want to delete it from the downloads. That is just the standard question for the real e-books, while the "Safari-pdfs" that this thread is about are not part of iCloud anyway.
And it seems as if this will not change in the future, according to https://discussions.apple.com/thread/251534441 discussion results.

After having saved all of the PDFs, deleting them in two alternatives:
Books > Library > Edit > "Select All" on the left (you may also do this inside a specific collection only so that you can filter what you want to delete, you can also multi-select PDFs manually instead of "Select All")
or delete all by going to Settings --> Passwords & Accounts --> iCloud --> iCloud --> Manage Storage --> Apple Books (mind there are 2 of them, take the first one) --> Delete Documents & Data

Proof that the bulk move cannot be done without a 3rd party app.
I have tried several 3rd party programs to transfer the pdfs, but none of them find the Safari pdf prints, they only find just the commercial e-books. iTunes does not find them either.
I was asked by a moderator to move the details of what I have already tried to reach a bulk move - and which were at first part of the question - to this answer. This was tested in 04/2020, but the problem will still be the same.

Unsuccessful try only using iBooks and iTunes:
In iTunes, clicking on your phone symbol, the iTunes pane that appears has a lot of options like overview, music, films... and also third party apps like kindle or acrobat in the last menu point, but there is no iBooks anywhere.
In the main menu, iBooks folder is empty. Right-click on iBooks and "transfer purchases" leads to nothing, of course: I have not bought any pdf, but just printed it from safari. In the settings, in "iTunes and App Store" make sure that "iBooks and audiobooks" are switched on for automatic download.
Third party apps fail to show iBooks' Safari pdf prints:
Tested up to now (few of so many): iMazing, iExplorer, easeus, ApowerManager, Phonepaw, iTools 4.4.5.8
Only those pdfs that you had actually added from the pc to the phone
are also in the books folder in the third party apps.
Those pdfs that are just printed pdfs from safari websites do not appear in the third party apps of iTunes.
iCloud Drive or Adobe Acrobat app: The current workaround which takes too much time and nerves:
Adobe Acrobat v. 20.04.00 app on the iPhone, click on every pdf's 3 dots in the overview in iBooks, save it in Acrobat. Then use iTunes, clicking on your Phone symbol, use the last menu point to get to Acrobat 3rd party app and then mark all pdfs and save them to a folder on your pc.
You can also use iCloud Drive, AirDrop or the like, works the same and does not need iTunes. Make sure that in your iPhone preferences, iBooks --> iCloud Drive is switched on (this is the standard anyway). Still the same issue with any such solution: no bulk move possible.
In Books, use the "Save to Files" option. Afterwards, follow these directions.

IOS 7 launch image, displaying black screen on device ONLY

I have checked all the questions /answers related to this issue at least at stakoverflow .but without any success ,so far my issue is - I have created a new app - target IOS 7 and I have added my launchimage and my appIcon in the image.xcassets folder .
when I launch my app on simulator the launchimae is showing perfectly without any issue but when I run the app on my iphone (iphone 5 , IOS 7.1) a black screen is showing instead of the launchimage
any help or suggestions will be appriciated ?

The problem is in your image.
You could open your image in Preview.app, then show the Inspector (⌘I) and look at More Info tab. Wrong image will show you the following info:
and will result a black screen on the device (but will be ok in the Simulator).
And the right one shood look like that:
I can't say how to fix wrong images in Photoshop. I found quite an ugly solution:
open wrong png in PS;
find and open correct png in another tab (make sure the canvas is of right size);
select the whole image in the wrong png and copy it;
paste the copied image into correct png file;
perform Save As... command and replace your wrong image with the new one.
Further to the answers above, the inspector actually tells you the size that it considers valid for use, so tweak it in whatever package before importing. I have many tools but for a quick-and-clean approach, good 'ol preview comes to the rescue if you take time to explore the editing tools

How to show document preview in iCloud conflicts sheet in Mac App using NSDocument

I am creating a Mac App, using NSDocument, that stores a custom class of documents to iCloud.
I was able to get the program to store documents to iCloud quite easily by just Code Signing it, Sandboxing it, and adding iCloud entitlements; however, I'm still encountering a problem where when I trigger an iCloud conflict and the program drops down the sheet allowing the user to resolve the conflict the rows in the sheet do not show the small image of the document (like Preview and TextEdit do).
Additionally, when I click on the area where the image should be (it's blank) it opens up a Quick Look window that just displays an image of the Document Icon together with some other information as opposed to a snap shot of the actual file like Preview and TextEdit do.
I have not found any information in Apple's documentation that explains what I need to do to implement the same behaviour as Preview and TextEdit.
So far I've been surprised by how easily I've been able to get all of the functionability of not only the Auto Saves and the Versions browser, but also saving to the Cloud. NSDocument seems to do all of this for the developer (resolving iCloud Conflicts, etc.), as Apple's documents says it does, but again I'm not getting this other behaviour and I don't want to reinvent the wheel by writing code that is not needed.
I'm thinking that the answer might lie somewhere with implementing a Quick Look thumbnail (for the small image in the table in the sheet) and a Quick Look preview for the larger preview of the document when that in the sheet is clicked on, but this seems like a lot of work and I'm afraid of losing some of the other build-in functions of NSDocument if I start "trapping" NSDocument routines up the food chain so to speak.
Has anyone else encountered this problem and found the easiest solution?

I've finally figured out that the problem is I need a QuickLook generator to display both a QL Thumbnail (which shows up in the table in the conflicts sheet) and a QL Preview (which is displayed when a user clicks on the Thumbnail)
I ended up creating the QL generator project, and afterwards creating a workspace which I added my main project and the QL generator project to. After that I added a Copy Files Build Phase to the main project to copy the QL generator into the main Application bundle.

Changing OS file icons using AIR app

I am building an AIR app which will be kind of like Dropbox. It will allow users to sync their files between various OSs. What I would like to know is that how can i change the default file system's file icons (add an overlay for eg) for states like - Synced and Syncing, the way Dropbox does it ??
On Windows i found out that Dropbox edits the registry files to insert the overlay icons..not yet sure how they do it in MAC OS X though.
I saw some threads here asking similar questions about AIR, but none referencing how to change file's icons. Hoping to get a solution for this from the various experts .. Please suggest any ideas if you know how it can be accomplished. Much thanks.
A simple yet effective solution would be to use icons that are only internal to your application : just embed in your application files some transparent pictures representing the various states of your files (with only the small part telling in which state it is, with the rest totally transparent), that you will add at runtime above the displayed icons.
Since you can get the actual icon of your files, just draw them into a BitmapData (if needed) & add an overlay with theses custom images, using the one related to your file's state in your application.
And one step further could be to store in your AIR application folder any resulting icons for future use (check what types of files you already have, and if your new file type isn't in thoses, export the various icons with your custom overlays to PNG files directly on the user device, for re-loading them the next time the application is opened).

Icon specified in info.plist not found under the top level app wrapper

I'm trying to upload my binary to iTunes Connect using Applicaton Loader. When I select the file and hit send, it sends for about a second and then this error pops up,

What does this mean? How do I fix it?
Another setting that can cause the issue:
You have to make sure the icon files are also found under build phases/bundle resources
Edit your projects .plist file "as source code" i.e. open it in any old text editor. Then manually edit the icon file names until they make sense.
The .plist is case-sensitive when validated and archived for upload to the App Store.
If you have this in the .plist:
icon-72#2X.png
the file name can not be
icon-72#2x.png
owing to the the case change of the x character .
I rename the file and corresponding change the name of icon file in the info.plist and this solution works for me.
Clean your build
Make sure the file is actually on the file system
Make sure you can see the file in the project navigator.
Most likely step 3 will fail. If so, drag the icon from the finder onto the Project Navigator. When asked, uncheck the "copy ..blabla" option because since the file is already there where you are dragging it to, it would fail. Once the file shows up in the Project Navigator you should be golden.
Also check that you dont have 2 icons with the same name anywhere in your project folders.
I am thinking that the answer to this question will vary in time because Apple constantly changes the application validation rules. These validation rules will surface only when you are submitting your app to the AppStore.
In this particular situation, the validation error happened to me while uploading the app on 08/03/2012.
The solution was fairly straight forward. I had to move to icon files which I had located in a folder nested within the project directory all to way up to the TOP LEVEL project directory - one that has the project file in it. Once I did that and readded the files back to the Resources in my project the validation error went away.
Of course you should check that this issue is not caused by misspelled filenames i.e. differences between your plist file and true names of icon files on your file system.
Another little issue that caught me out was an empty string. I got the cryptic failure message ...

I was similar problem's. I have resolve to do this
1/ delete your application Icone in your Target
2/ rename your icone ex: applicationNameSmall.png
3/ add your icone in your application.
This, works for me.
Error is coming up because the App Store is checking names of icon files based upon yourProject-info.plist. If they don't match, error message.
To resolve this issue: Go to yourProject-info.plist in xcode and check BOTH "icon-files" and "icon-files(IOS5)" arrays. You'll want to make sure that each string corresponds with the icon files you have in the file directory.
Change or delete mismatched string names (I had to delete a blank string). Rebuild. As other posters have noted, names are case-sensitive, so be mindful of that too.
Sometimes Icon.png files needs to be open in some image editing tool (e.g Adob Photoshop) and save as a new image. This works fine. Check attached images some times image properties don't change by renaming image file manually.
I had the same issue. I just added the image files it complained about to the project in the viewer. Not sure if that was the right thing to do, but it resolved the issue for me.
I had a silly mistake, in my info.plist the i had Icon.png, and the real file name was icon.png (no uppercase)
Fix the images issues it suggests.
Clean your project.
Build and run to make sure nothing has broken.
Delete the previous archive
Make a new archive (Product -> Archive)
This worked for me. I had to rearchive my application cause the previous one was not updated.
I had the same problem. I gone to Targets->Build Phases and deleted from there old (test) icons which I had pushed early. Good luck:)
