I created an asp.net mvc application that utilizes Google's analytic's API. The application was working for a short period, it then stopped working. By stopped working it is unable to make a connection to google. This problem occurs at my work environment. I tried the application at home and it works fine. I think my organization is blocking the application connection. I created a console version of the web app and it works fine.
Do web apps and console app make different external server requests?
How do I diagnosis the problem so I can make a request to the help desk as to what ports they are blocking.
thanks,
thanks for the help guys. I managed to route the api calls through a proxy server.
Application worked fine after that. Here is a link to using a proxy with the api.
http://code.google.com/apis/gdata/articles/proxy_setup.html
Try using Fiddler, is a HTTP proxy that maybe can five you the information that you need. Other option would be mabye using Wireshark, for scanning too, but I'm not sure about it cause I never used it.
You need to install the tools on the client that is making the requests to Google
I hope this helps

I am implementing a WebApp in our company's intranet with Blazor WebAssembly. I need to make API-Calls to our DevOps Server hosted in our intranet and need to use Windows Authentication to access the API. In the former used WPF Client it was enough to just add the UseDefaultCredentials-Flag on the HttpClient, but that does not work in WebAssembly anymore since the App is running in the browser. The Microsoft Docs state We don't recommend using Windows Authentication with Blazor Webassembly, but not recommend does not mean not support, so it has to be possible somehow, to attach the current App-User's Windows Credentials(Token) to the API Call. Unfortunately there exists no example on the docs page on how to implement this and I have not found any code on how to tackle this, although on some forums people wrote that it is possible, but did not include the How in their comments.
I am using .NET5 for both Server and Client and need to make the Api-Call with Windows Authentication from the Client, not the Server as most examples are using it, as my Server-Project uses the same User for all Requests but I need the User of the Client-Project.
Any kind of help is appreciated.
We have a webhooks applications that only takes https as part of the callback URL. The application sends a POST request to the callback URL as a notification of some events. To be free of any 3rd party applications, we are trying to test the application using a mock/embedded web server behind the callback URL that is started by the integration test process.
However, after trying wiremock or jetty, it seems I cannot get around the SSL cert check from the webhooks application or client side, even though the callback URL can be set to https://127.0.0.1:someport :( The webhooks application we are testing resides in a different box than the one in which the integration tests are run.
Can someone please give me some hint/clue to solve this? Deeply appreciate it
thank you, a-kootstra, Actually it is not possible. I was confused. The webhooks applications lives on a separate server than the one from which tests are run. So the requests sent to localhost in our webhooks server will never reach the test server. I solved the problem by using AWS API gateway and DynamoDB. Worked perfectly. And no SSL certs issue either
I am new to PowerApps development. I am trying to connect PowerApps to my custom APIs (Azure app api) and getting results of "resource not found". I can call the api from browsers, postman no problem. The .json file I use for PowerApps is the same as the one I use for editor.swagger.io (for testing). I checked the log file of the application on azure, all of the requests from browsers logged but not the ones from PowerApps. My question is, how PowerApps calls APIs and what is the right format of the .json file used for PowerApps app?
Thank you.
I would recommend trying again, we had a small issue on our backend that was causing some 404's at times. A fix for it has been deployed so you might see it work.
PowerApps uses Swagger to determine the shape of the REST api to be able to project those APIs into "formulas" that can be used easily in the client.
Also, for development/troubleshooting purposes I highly recommend using Fiddler to see exactly the REST call that PowerApps is doing and making sure the URL and parameters are correct. If not then look into your swagger definition and make sure there are no issues with the paths provided there.
You might also check that your Azure App API has either:
The PowerApps IP Addresses Whitelisted OR
If available, the "Allow Access to Azure Services" option toggled
When building Azure SQL backends for PowerApps, one of these paths must be followed.
First off, I need to mention that I'm not sure if what I'm trying to achieve is even supported by Piranha CMS (that's partly what I'm trying to determine here). They mention the ability to create a standalone content hub on their website, but my assumptions of what is possible with that model might be incorrect. What I've already done is created an ASP.NET MVC application that is hosting Piranha CMS and I've published it to Azure websites for testing purposes--that part works as expected. The content management interface is the only user facing piece here--it is meant only to serve as the content hub for the client application (just the one for now as this is just proof of concept work).
I am now trying to build a client ASP.NET MVC application that pulls content from the hub. This is where I'm thinking that my assumptions may have been wrong. I was thinking that I'd be able to install the Piranha CMS nuget package(s) on the client as well, and I'd be able to configure the framework to get content from the hub in the same way that it would if the content were hosted on the client site. I realize that I could get the content from the hub using Piranha's REST api, but what I want to do is to be able to use the more friendly entity model based api for this.
So my question is whether it is possible (within reason) to setup Piranha CMS in the way that I've described. If it is, how exactly do I configure the client such that it is aware of the location of the content hub?
There are currently no .net client api consuming the rest services as the simplest scenario would be to deploy .net applications together with the server. In the setups I've done native apps & html5 knockout/angular applications have used the rest api's for getting json data. You should however be able to white such a module, performing the HTTP calls and the deserializing the json without any problems.

I am using Asp.net MVC 4 Web Api project. MY application uses mvc to implement a web site. It makes http requests to the web api to implement server functionality.
Regular page requests to controllers work fine and it is able to display web pages. The application is able to make get and post requests to the api. But when it tries to to put or delete web requests it gets
"Failed to load resource: the server responded with a status of 501 (Not Implemented) "
The application is hosted on iis 6.
The application works when running a local cassani server instance and is able to make put and delete requests, but as soon as the application is executed from iis it doesn't work as expected.
I tried all the suggestions from the comment above and none of them worked.
I had to add the ASP.NET 4.0 dll to the Wildcard mappings in the Configuration area on the Home Directory tab. That worked for me. Remember to uncheck the "Verify file exists" checkbox.
EDIT: I posted a blog on the exact process to make this happen here: http://www.proworks.com/blog/2012/11/14/how-to-fix-aspnet-mvc-web-api-http-put-and-delete-requests-failing/
