Hudson Job Completion with Cargo - maven-2

I am using cargo maven plugin to start weblogic server (mvn cargo:run). Everything is working fine but hudson job is not getting completed. Is there any way by which hudson job can be completed after server start up?

We are using maven-weblogic-plugin instead of maven-cargo-plugin which tells you clearly when server is started/stopped etc. Hudson jobs are working fine with this.

jenkins selenium tests ci

I have created a Jenkins maven task to run selenium tests on one project, and now I want to use these selenium test in a proper way for CI.
Actually, I have a Jenkins task which 1-builds the project, 2- uses sonar, 3 - deploys the project. I would like to add the selenium tests to this process. The question is: can I run the selenium tests before deployment? Is it necessary to do a previous deploy for the selenium tests before the real deployment? Is there anyway to simulate a deployment or something like that so I can run the selenium tests?I would appreciate If you could advise me on how to do or any plugin which could help me.
As per my understanding, To deal with the scenario you should run the selenium test on QA environment. If all test pass then deployment should start for staging etc.
Additionally, once the deployment is done on staging, then selenium script should run again, test staging and if something went wrong then rollback from staging should be happened.
I never tried it but you can use below github plug-in for deployment(in case you are using github) :-
https://wiki.jenkins.io/display/JENKINS/GitHub+plugin
If you are using SVN then use below :-

Hope it will help you :)

Triggering Jenkins after TFS build

I was wondering if it is possible for Jenkins to be notified after TFS finishes a build.
I'm trying to make a system where, after the TFS build, Jenkins is used to run automated selenium tests.
Thanks in advance!
You have a few options:
You could use a GenericTest to trigger Jenkins and include as part of the Build Definition. This also allows your script to communicate pass/fail information back to the build.
You could just include an InvokeProcess workflow activity to trigger Jenkins. The process would be similar to this or this.
Or you could use a tool that would trigger after a Team Build has finished. Normally people would use tools that then deploy stuff. Most of these tools trigger a Powershell script at some point, which would allow you to trigger the test run:
Octopus Deploy
TFS Deployer

Jenkins CI - java.exe child process hangs after job is done

I have following problem: on my Jenkins 1.438 I have job with maven 3 application. When I run it, sometimes after build is completed successfully Jenkins child process - java.exe - still hangs in the system. It also holds a handle to POM file and when I run my job again i get error that POM file cannot be deleted and build fails. Does anyone know how to fix this? Jenkins runs on Windows Server 2008
We experienced the same problem with Jenkins (on a Linux server).
I'm not sure if you can achieve this with Powershell in Windows server (or use windows-port of bash etc), but for example we start and stop our builds in Jenkins with seperated starter and stopper shell scripts. The point: start script saves the PID of the java process being started into a text file, and the stop script reads it and kills after a given amount of time.

Hudson CI: cannot test grails-app

I've tried in each and every way to test a grails-app using hudson. I've tried testing with maven, I've tried testing with the grails plugin and I've tried testing with a shell builder it seems that building via shell is the only thing that works..
Every time I get the same error:
org.hibernate.HibernateException:
contains is not valid without active
transaction
But If i go to a shell and type
grails test-app
everything runs fine.
Does anyone have any idea on what's going on?
I'm using CentOS with Java 1.6, no slaves, just a simple hudson deploy over Tomcat6.
I've tried both with maven and grails builder, both fail.
Edit: it seems that if I run both unit and integration tests on the same command (either with grails or with mvn) the integration tests fail always.
Hudson/Jenkins usually just use the command line for executing grails plugins (You should be able to confirm that from the build output). You could probably add a pre build step to dump the environment, so you can see if anything there (or in your own shell) cause it to be fundamentally different.
Otherwise try to log in as the hudson user and find the hudson workspace and repeat the process manually. That has been the easiest way to debug hard problems like this..

Setting up Hudson with Selenium RC to run tests written in C#

I just deployed a Hudson server and configured it to checkout, build and deploy to a testing http server.
Now I want more =)
I have some Selenium RC tests wrtten in C#/.Net, using the MbUnit infrastructure, that runs ok on Gallio Icarus.
How to setup Hudson to run these tests? Our is in a Windows 2003 server.
I was thinking about just setting a batch script that runs the tests. But how to run them in CLI? Is there a CLI test runner that could run our tests?
Hah! Just found out.
I have to run:
Gallio\bin\Gallio.Echo.exe path\MyTestAssemlby.dll
When Google fails you, try searching your own PC =)
If you prefer NAnt, MSBuild or PowerShell you can use those too...
