Anyone who has some troubles with Internet Explorer?

Here is your problem. in the HTML code you are missing " sign
OBJECT classid="clsid:D27CDB6E-AE6D-11cf-96B8-444553540000"\n'+
' codebase="...see source...\n " <- Here you need to add it '+
' WIDTH="700" HEIGHT="500"

Base 64 pdf is not displayed in IE11

I'm trying to display a pdf File with GWT with the following html code :
HTML pdfHtml = new HTML("<embed src='data:application/pdf;base64," + myPdfStringBase64 + "' width='100%' height='370px'></embed>");
It seems like the pdf String is too big for IE and it is automatically cutted from the 4096 character.
However this works fine with Chrome and Firefox...
Does anyone has to deal with such an issue ?
I think your best bet is
if (isInternetExporer) downloadPdf()
You can download using something like filesaver.js. Wrapping this in GWT is just a few lines of code.

IE11 Windows 7 Print issue after kb4021558

Apologies for the slightly vague question but I'm pulling my hair out. Since this update we have had numerous calls regarding printing from our web app. Our web app uses an iframe and we use css #media print to hide all but this iframe for printing purposes. Since the update the user receives an Error 404--Not Found instead of the actual page. It would seem from the network trace that IE creates a temp .htm file in the local directory like D3CD911.htm, it then downloads css/js resources and then finally it makes this call /D3CD911.htm. This is making a call to www.mywebsite.co.uk/D3CD911.htm. This obviously does not exist on the website so the 404 is returned.
I struggling to find a pattern to the problem and it doesn't seem to be affecting other public sites. I think the issue is with window.print() method. I can semi reproduce it here at https://www.primefaces.org/showcase/ui/misc/printer.xhtml. If you click the print button you will get the error. Although this is using the jqprint javascript function if you then use the browser print button it also fails.
Any guidance would be much appreciated.
andyfinch, you're a genius! The following code appears to work for a print button contained within a frame:
function Print() {
if (document.queryCommandSupported('print')) {
document.execCommand('print', false, null);
}
else {
window.parent.<framename>.focus();
window.print();
}
}
Update:
Microsoft have now released a patch: Microsoft IE patch
Just wanted to summarise the workarounds I've found and which have been posted here.
1) If you are using your own print button change to use document.execCommand('print', false, null);. Test support using document.queryCommandSupported('print') and call window.print() if not supported (Prob just Firefox)
2) Use Print Preview. Additionally select the part of the page to print, right click and select print preview. Then select As selected on screen.
3) Use another browser like Chrome
4) Uninstall the update
5) Wait for Microsoft fix. Their KB page KB Link has been updated with this as a known issue. Therefore you assume a fix is on the way.
andyfinch's workaround is also working for us. Thanks Andy!
MS has flagged this issue with "WON'T FIX" (6/15/17): https://developer.microsoft.com/en-us/microsoft-edge/platform/issues/12349663/ Update: that flag might just indicate that it's not an issue with MS Edge so it won't get fixed by the Edge developers.
Installing KB4021558 breaks printing from our website (the pages are blank, the footer shows some variant of "res://ieframe.dll/i273gyew.htm"). Uninstalling it restores printing functionality.
KB4021558 is also included in KB4022719, KB4022725 and KB4022727.
I found a workaround: if the iframe you're trying to print is visible, right click on it and choose Print preview... instead of Print... from the context menu. The preview seems to be printable (but may show only part of the frame contents).
Also, for the record, the problematic 64-bit Win7 update is KB4022719.
MS released updates yesterday (June 27th) that address it for Windows 10:
This non-security update includes quality improvements. No new
operating system features are being introduced in this update. Key
changes include:
• Addressed an issue introduced by KB4022715 where Internet Explorer
and Microsoft Edge printing from a frame may result in 404 not found
or blank page printed.

I grabbed them from the Windows Update Catalog today, to use with WSUS.
Heres the workaround I have been using for this in IE 11:
Right click frame and choose select all, or [ctrl + A] in the frame
Right click and choose print preview
There should be an option in your preview for "As selected on screen". Choosing this allowed me to print everything in the frame.
We were having multiple frames in the print screen and calling document.execCommand('print', false, null); could not fix our issue. Instead window.parent[frameName].document.execCommand('print', false, null); fixed it.

iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance changes Request.MapPath

I've been stuck on this problem all night. I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find anything related to my exact problem. On our IIS server we have a page that creates a pdf. We put an image in the header of the created PDF. This had been working properly until last night when we updated some unrelated code on different pages. Now when we try to create the PDF we get an error that the image file doesn't exist. Here's the weird part, iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance is changing the path we send to it?
Here's the line of code
Dim oImage As iTextSharp.text.Image = iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance(Request.MapPath("~/images/" & sLogo))
If we output the results of Request.MapPath("~/images/" & sLogo) we receive
E:\Inetpub\sitename\images\logo.jpg
When we place it in in the iTextShart.text.Image.GetInstance() function our path output changes to
C:\Windows\SysWOW64\inetsrv\images\defaultlogo.jpg
You can see the logo itself changes too, it should be noted that we do use DefaultLogo.jpg in the case that a client doesn't use their own logo but all the ones i'm testing with do. The path E:\Inetpub\sitename\images does exist and logo.jpg does exist.
Here's the weirdest part, if i change the path from images to image
IE: iTextSharp.text.Image.GetInstance(Request.MapPath("~/image/" & sLogo))
the output will be
E:\Inetpub\sitename\image\logo.jpg
So i have no idea why images doesn't resolve.
Any help is greatly appreciated, and if this answer has been posted before and i just can't find it i'm very sorry, and if you could point me to that i would appreciate that as well.
I figured out my issue, and it's sheer stupidity on my part. The page we call to create the pdf had bad security on it. Basically we were looking for a session variable that didn't exist and redirected that page to a session time out notice. Removed that session check and it's working now!

Ported OSX Obj-C/CG Screenshot Code to js-ctypes - crash on final line

I ported some objective-c/CoreGraphics code that takes a screenshot of multiple monitors but it's not working. The jsctypes guys won't be able to help because the section is just me answering questions lol
The objc/cg code is from here: https://stackoverflow.com/a/28247749/1828637
My jsctypes type/struct/declares are here: https://github.com/Noitidart/NativeShot/blob/mac-troubleshooting/modules/ostypes_mac.jsm
The jsctypes port is here: https://github.com/Noitidart/NativeShot/blob/mac-troubleshooting/modules/workers/MainWorker.js#L443-656
And the last line is line 643 which causes the crash:
var rez_writeToFile = ostypes.API('objc_msgSend')(data, ostypes.HELPER.sel('writeTofile:atomically:'), myNSStrings.get(OS.Path.join(OS.Constants.Path.desktopDir, 'full_ss.png')), ostypes.CONST.YES);
This coincides with the objectivec of
[data writeToFile:#"/tmp/screenshot.png" atomically:YES];
except i changed path to ...desktop/...png
I wrote to sepearte gists, to align the lines in text diff software to make sure I did everything.
Here is objc/cg: https://gist.github.com/Noitidart/8affcd8bee60d22dcb52
and here is jsctypes: https://gist.github.com/Noitidart/3d4a4e8df625dbea8cc1
I dont think i missed anything i dont know why it crashes on that final line
Do any of the ObjC/CG people see any type definition that is wrong or something that I missed (for example the ObjC code uses compound statments I'm not sure I understood/translated them correctly in the port).
Wowww so after struggling for like some hours then posting this I realize it right away haha
Casing typo in selector!! I had writeTofile:atomically instead of writeToFile:atomically!
If anyone would like to test this out, it's a simple firefox addon test case.
Install an addon that allows installing addons from github repos from here: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/github-extension-installer/
Go to commit on this branch that works here: https://github.com/Noitidart/NativeShot/tree/f5f2e8606d3c5c657e901239d3ceb8c8c79a4494
Then click the "Add to Firefox" button at bottom right, below the "Download Zip" button
Click on the toolbar button icon that gets added to firefox, as seen in this screenshot: http://i.imgur.com/n7lSxje.png
Check desktop you now have a single png file with a screenshot of all the monitors, huge props to #KenThomas!

ReportViewer cannot shown in Firefox8 and Chrome15

I have an asp.net mvc3 project, it has some reports in aspx web pages. Everything works great in 2-3 weeks ago, but now, when I open the reports pages in FireFox8 and Chrome 15, the reports can not be displayed correctly.
In FF8, report content can be shown, but looks like css doesn't loaded, and report head control look like this:
In Chrome15, report head looks fine but content isn't shown up. I can see it has correct contents when using Firebug to view those .
Since data can ben loaded to browser, I think it maybe a browser compatibility problem, am I right?
Does anyone seeing same issues? I'm open to any suggestions.
BTW:My report viewer's version is 10.0.0.0.
Thanks.
[Edit in 12/21/2011]
FireFox
After several research on this, I have noticed when browse in firefox, server will catch an [Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandlerInputException: Missing URL parameter: Name], and the query string is OpType=BackImage&Version=10.0.40219.329&Color=%23ECE9D8&Name=Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.Icons.toolbar_bk.png; path_info is Reserved.ReportViewerWebControl.axd
This may be the reason why firefox can't show page with correct CSS.
I don't know why this happens in Firefox & Chrome, while in IE everything is fine.
I've found this link shows same excpetion: http://social.msdn.microsoft.com/Forums/eu/vsreportcontrols/thread/80ce3ee8-e65b-476c-b668-ecc8e83ea73d
But I'm not sure how did he solve this, can you or somebody else gives some tip or example code to solve this?
Chrome
When browse in chrome, I found the report data is loaded into DOM, and surronded by a with id="ReportViewer1_fixedTable". Inside that element, there's a div with id="ReportViewer1_ctl09" nested in , if I remove the "height: 100%", the report can be seen.
this link http://www.apptools.com/examples/tableheight.php, explained why this 100% cannot be rendered correctly, but I'm still failed when trying to give a fixed height via CSS, the code can't be pasted here, please see this as a reference.
Thanks.
In Chrome, it's the "height=100%" problem.
Once I add following jQuery code, the report area can ben shown.
$(function () {
$("#ReportViewer1_ctl09").css("height", "auto");
});
In FireFox, the report page raise an error as following:
"Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.HttpHandlerInputException 缺少 URL 参数: Name"
and the Query String is: "OpType=BackImage&Version=10.0.40219.329&Color=%23ECE9D8&Name=Microsoft.Reporting.WebForms.Icons.toolbar_bk.png"
according to this article, I think it's caused by a proxy that handles http request..
I checked my request, there's a "FiftyOne ..." in "Brwoser" property of "Request" ojbect.
Since fifty one is no longer used in this project, I removed it from Bin and web config, then the report can be shown in FireFox!
Hope this article can be usefule to other guys.
