My ipad application has a custom look. It uses text labels extensively for displaying partly colored/shadowed/bold texts. Larger pieces of text may contain numbered lists and embedded Images. There could be couple rich text regions on a single page.
I am not sure that UIWebView is the right tool for displaying strings like:
MyApp title
Hello rich text world
List item
List item
Writing my own text rendering engine looks more sufficient to me than using UIWebView.
Any ideas for lightweight rich text renderer ? c library or custom control ?
I would recommend using TTStyledLabel from the Three20 library. It provides the desired functionally and would save you the time of writing your own.

I've a database with image (1 document contains 1 image).
This database is used in other application via "PickList" so user can select image they want (right now they just see a filename and that's it). Once user selected an image - we display it in IBM Notes client via html. However the issue is - user must guess if he select the right image and to avoid 'guessing' I would like to show thumbnail version of image in PickList.
So far I found only one way to do that (for every image I've in database I will create a image resource element in design. In that way I can display it in a View (in a column).
What other ways to achieve this you know?
Please consider any ways you know, I'm not limited to using views only, it could be Dialogs, generating something in RTF field dynamically, OLE, Java etc. Basically I'm very very open minded to another solution.

Since you are using Domino 9, how about developing in XPages? If you are going to switch to an HTML frame in the Notes client to look at the image anyway, you may as well select from an HTML frame, too. You can use XPages for Notes clients, not just web clients.
Using common XPage controls, you can develop dynamic HTML pages from Notes views and documents. You could for example develop an XPage to display a list of choices from a view - including file attachment names and/or the actual file attachments.
It is absolutely doable with XPages. Checkout OpenNTF.org for lots of examples.
I am a newbie at Objective-C. I'm working on a project for a OSX. I have a pdf template file with form fields, and I need to use it to generate a new pdf adding some images, text, barcode, and complete form fields.
I've been researching for working with PDFs, I'm trying to use Quartz 2D, CGPDFContext, and at this moment I managed to fill a new pdf with the page template, but I don´t know how to do to write on the fields forms and add other images.
How can I draw at specific point, text or image? or exist any library to manage pdf? and for generate barcode128? Thank you so much!
Once you have a CGPDFContext you can draw whatever you want into it as you would with any other context. A simple solution is to create a CALayer (or a view and then access its layer) with the content you want and then to draw that layer into your PDF context.
Getting the editable text fields isn't so easy, this might help.
If you can do away with the PDF template and do the whole thing as a view that you render into a PDF context that would be easier, but the process is generally the same once you know where you need to draw your additional text / graphics.

I've created a DataPackage that has both HTML annd plain text content. I've used this in my copy and my sharing code and it works fine. I now want to create RTF output as some apps don't seem to accept HTML clipboard content.
I'm looking for a good guide to making RTF text that can be added to the DataPackage. I just need simple formatting including changing the font family, font size, font weight and adding newlines. The data comes from a list of objects taht I want to serialise as RTF, not from a text control on the screen.
WordPad outputs fairly clean RTF and some other text editors do as well. If that's not enough, you can download the RTF Specification 1.9.1 although like any specification that's probably overkill for what you're doing.
You can also use the SaveToStream method on the Document property of a RichEditBox from a Metro style app to share out as well.
I am building a website that will make heavy use of the content editor webparts to allow for content to be added. The drawback to this is that by default the content editor provides a "Rich Text Editor" which is good for adding data but bad because it has the potential to break styling. I have two solutions :
First is to do some coding to somehow have predefined css styles added to the styles menu of the Rich text editor.
Second which should be quicker is to simply disable the Rich text editor i.e disabling the fonts, styles, etc from the Rich Text editor so that users can only enter data and not mess around with the styling.
For soultion two, is this possble and what would be the quickest way to achieve this?
Any assistance is greatly appreciated!

The whole point of the rich text editor is to allow the user to enter styled content as they see fit. If you don't want any styling to be applied through the RTE either create style rules in your CSS to overrride anything the user enters or else use content fields based on multiple lines of text rather than rich text.

I want to get the height necessary to display the full text in my RichTextBox (when the text extends beyond the set height of the control).
Reminder: Silverlight has no handy TextRenderer.MeasureText like WPF does, nor any other apparent way to measure text.
Doesn't seem like there's any way to do this. I've seen mention of people measuring text of a single font (not mixed as in my RichTextBox) by creating a TextBlock and getting it's Width. Even this doesn't work - it's perfect for some fonts and inconsistent for others.
My app is occasionally connected, so I can't call the server.
As you say, I don't think there's a good way to do this in Silverlight today. There are some functions available in the Document Toolkit by First Floor Software, however those are geared towards working with XPS documents. I'm not sure what you're trying to do, however in Silverlight 5 the RichTextBox does come with the ability to "overflow" text into multiple other RichTextBoxes when the first one cannot display all of the data. This allows you to more easily create a multi-column text layout.
