When deploying a blog, is it best to use a subdomain or a subfolder (SEO Benefits)? - seo

I know this is a common question, and there are resources on the internet about this topic, but I wanted to here from this community everyone's thoughts on subdomain vs subfolder when deploying a blog (SEO Benefits).
Thanks.

I researched this once, and based on community feedback as well as weighing in the pros and cons, I'd say go for a folder, for more info:
http://www.v7n.com/forums/seo-forum/30267-folders-versus-subdomains.html

Both will work.

Not being an expert on this, I'd say both will do the same but I prefer a folder because, depending on the server/host you're using, a subdomain might take a while to be visible to everyone.
This is based on the fact one of the hosts I use taking 2 days to guarantee visibility of a subdomain.
I'm sorry but I don't know enough to explain why this happens.
Hope it helped :)
Cheers

How to start with a DBMS project

We are supposed to make a web-based project using postgres. The topic is library management system, where on a website a user can search whether a book is available in the library, if it is present then where, and so on.
The problem is just that I don't know anything about web development. I do have a pretty good knowledge of sql, but I'm confused a bit in that too, because I don't know if I'll just have to run the queries in my laptop in postgres and link if it "somehow" to the website, or will I have to upload my data on some server (for eg., firebase in case Android development) to be used in my website.
So briefly, I've just two questions:-
How should I start, because I have no idea where to begin with(I do have all the data needed btw)?
About postgres, will the queries run on my laptop or some server?
Please help me with this. Some online resources for the same are way more than just welcome, because I was unable to find any. Thank you!
First of all, you'd take a look at some design pattern in order to learn some theory on how to make (web) apps in the right way. You can visit Martin Fowler's web site and read them.
Once studied, you'd follow my advice. If you've got Java expetise, I'd start by learning Spring Boot, which has every piece you need to achieve your goal. This project follows lot's of design patterns (MVC, Repository, DAO, AOP, IoC/DI...) and lets you follow others (DTO). Anyway, choose the right template engine (I like Thymeleaf) or any other framework (Angular 2...).
Hope it helps.
welcome to development world. When starting out it seems very confusing but it is not that much.
Start slow, there are many tutorials across which helps.. just do a bit of google.
To answer your question :
How should I start, because I have no idea where to begin with(I do have all the data needed btw)?
-- Google simple website with postgres db. For that you will require the database to be installed and a webserver on your machine. All of which will be used when you host the website
About postgres, will the queries run on my laptop or some server?
-- It will run on where you have installed the database..
hope this helps :)

Yesterday, Site on Page1, Today, Site Gone

I understand the whole work of SEO etc. However my site has been steadily holding page 2 for months. I had time to add contextual links, and site went direct to page 1 yesterday. This site and URL now can't be found at all. I should think if anything it would get back to page 2.
Thanks a lot for adding thoughts?
Thanks a lot,
Byron
You have not mentioned anything important to answer your question.
Anyway, assuming that you are searching in Google for your website, I have one suggestion.
Do check your site health in webmaster tools. And also read the basic seo optimization guides. Enhance the webpages with HTML5 technologies and Schema. Have patience.

https for facebook applications

Read a lot about the new guidelines for facebook developer,
but i got know real answer about this:
Do I realy need a https-website to get an app running?
Anyone got it running via ssl-proxy?
Thx Sven
Not really a stackoverflow.com question, nor is this (1) something not covered by Facebook already (see http://developers.facebook.com/blog/post/497/). In short, yes, you must have SSL-ready server.
As for (2) stackoverflow.com is not a platform meant to advertise products. Your most likely answer is http://godaddy.com (personally not using any godaddy.com services and would not recommend them for any other reason that price).
There are a lot of alternatives, e.g. http://networksolutions.com, http://rapidssl.com (see http://www.cheapssls.com/ for more offers).

Good sites for website background patterns

What sites do you guys use for background patterns? The best I found so far is http://www.noupe.com/design/80-stunning-background-patterns-for-your-websites.html
http://www.noupe.com/freebie/the-big-collection-of-free-design-textures.html
Just wondering what other sources you guys use. I think this should be community wiki but I am really new and don't know how that works :(
Just stumbled upon http://www.backgroundlabs.com/

Quirky URl, Something I Am Missing?

Bear my ignorance please!
I always believed there were not so much Top Domain Name Extensions. What I knew were .com, .net,.edu, ect. And I was quit happy with all of those! (ignorance=happiness?)
Until recently I found more and more companies are adopting strange domain extensions like: http://del.icoi.us, http://bu.mp...
and I was totally puzzled. What does it mean? Obviously what I care is SEO significance, but I am also interested in other related aspects, like what is it differences between well-known extensions? for ordinary users? It seems clear that those new extensions are quit easy to write and memorize, does it mean I should buy domain names like bu.mp or http://i.i?
Thanks for your time?
.us and .mp are country extensions. See here a list of those extension.
If you should register domains like bu.mp is up to you.
I found out that here in The Netherlands people (ordinary users) find .nl and .nu confusing. I always advise to register the .nl as well if clients want to use .nu
So the well-known extensions still have their value.
