I'm studying at a university, and it's really important to be able to support arguments with facts. Are there any studies about SEO? I've read that people don't bother to go to the next page on google, they do a new search instead. But are there really any studies in the subject?

But are there really any studies in the subject?
For example, the pie chart on this page says that 40% of clicks are on the top (number 1) search result, that 90% are on the first page, and that 0.01% are on neither pages 1 and 2.

I work for a company who help find people. I want to increase our SEO ranking by implementing phone numbers/directory on our site.
Main Goal: If someone searches for a phone number, our site should be listed higher than where it lists now.
Any suggestion, how and what can I implement?
Thanks
Look into microformats. It helps to highlight details like telephone numbers and all major search engines support them.

I've noticed that google sometimes show thumbnail, total reviews, total pages, time needed, price, total matches, and even rating (with star images), etc..
How can I let google display such specific short info and small thumbnail image?
You're probably looking for Google's Microdata, similar to Facebook's OpenGraph.

This Pro Webmasters questions covers this. It basically boils down to having lots of fresh content and quality links.

basically I am a programmer and have no idea how to promote my site against my competitors.
What I want to lanch is only for Germany and the competitors are doing this business from last 15 years and are very well known here in Germany.
Is there any book recomendation or any other source that can help me in promoting my site and attracting the User to use my site?
A good source of knowledge is Googles SEO Starter Guide located here http://googlewebmastercentral.blogspot.com/2008/11/googles-seo-starter-guide.html

I'd like to know if listing a set of partner sites/blogs is useful for the pagerank growth.
Does Google see it as an incorrect act? I read somewhere that if people exchange links, google seeks it and marks as a bad technique.
If it doesn't matter, is the content of the linked site relevant?
That's called Link farming and it is a really bad SEO tecnique.
If you link to another page for SEO purposes, keep links relevant and in a way that are interesting to the readers.
