What development tools can build 64 bit programs for Windows x64 and/or Mac? - ide

Delphi does not yet support building 64-bit applications. What common tools are there for building native 64 bit programs, especially with an IDE? For instance, I believe that Visual Studio supports this. Anything else?

On Mac, Xcode builds 64-bit apps. Bear in mind that you must use the Cocoa UI APIs.

Visual Studio 2005, Visual Studio 2008, Free Pascal x64.

Delphi XE2, with FireMonkey, now supports Windows x64 and the Mac OS.

Is WEC (Windows Embedded Compact) development supported in VS 2013?

I've downloaded VS 2013, hoping it would make it easier for porting our Windows CE / CF app, specifically easier for debugging. My worst problem is not being able to connect to the emulator from VS 2008 (How do I get the Emulator on the same network as my PC?) - and previously, in XP Mode / VS 2003, it wasn't even feasible to make the attempt (after several concussions incurred bashing my head against the wall).
I was hoping there would be a better process for that in VS 2013. But, based on what I see here: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-US/vstudio/dn250998.aspx there may be no support at all (yet?) for WEC.
Am I really stuck with no WEC support in VS 2013, as it appears?
Development for devices running Windows Embedded Compact 2013 is supported in Visual Studio 2012.
Development for devices running older versions of Windows CE (5.0, 6.0), Windows Embedded Compact 7, Windows Mobile, Windows Embedded Handhelds is supported only in Visual Studio 2008.

XNA framework and Visual Studio 2012

Can I develop XNA based application for Windows8 in Visual Studio 2012?How can I make metro based app utilizing XNA framework?
XNA Game Studio has been discontinued by Microsoft, but Monogame is starting to really take off! Monogame can deploy to Windows, Windows Store, Mac, Linux, and mobile platforms as well.
Try these visual studio XNA extensions, they work for VS2010, VS2012 and VS2013:

(Just download the latest release and follow the instructions that come with the package)

How to compile x64 with Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition

I found a forum post about Visual C++, Visual C++ 2008 Express Edition And 64-Bit Targets , but how do I develop x64 applications under Visual Basic 2010 Express Edition?
I don't have Visual Basic 2010 Express installed to check, but if you go to the project properties and view the Compile tab, do you have an "Advanced Compile Options" button? Click that and then look at the "Target CPU" drop down. By default it should be "Any CPU", which means that .NET will run as x86 or x64 depending on the OS that the app is running on.
Since .NET code is not native code, the target platform doesn't matter as much as it would with a C++ project. The recommendations I've seen suggest targeting x86 will all your .NET applications unless you have a specific reason that you need the extra memory addressing that you'd get with an x64 application.

Can a VB6 component be compiled to 64 bit?

Is there a way to compile a VB6 component into 64 bits?
My feeling is that the answer is "no", but I would like to confirm this.
Please, if you can, paste a link to an authorative source that would confirm.
No. I hope this counts as authoritative.
64-Bit Windows
Visual Basic 6.0
runtime files are 32-bit. These files
ship in 64-bit Windows Operating
Systems referenced in the table below.
32-bit VB6 applications and components
are supported in the WOW emulation
environment only. 32-bit components
must also be hosted in 32-bit
application processes.
The Visual Basic 6.0 IDE has never
been offered in a native 64-bit
version, nor has the 32-bit IDE been
supported on 64-bit Windows. VB6
development on 64-bit Windows is not
and will not be supported.
No it cannot (well Microsoft has not released a compiler to compile it for a 64-bit environment), but this does not mean that it won't run on a 64-bit system. To run it in conjunction with IIS, you'll need to install the 32-bit version of IIS.

Mono IDE on Windows

Is there any IDE for coding mono on windows platform?
MonoDevelop has now released a installer for Windows. You no longer need to build it from source. It is available from the MonoDevelop website
However on windows it runs on the .NET Framework, not Mono - it uses the .NET debugger instead of the Mono one.
SharpDevelop and Visual Studio will both work. You can also use the Windows version of MonoDevelop.
I would recommend #develop or check out the status of porting MonoDevelop (A fork of #develop) back to Windows.
SharpDevelop comes to mind... I've found this quick howto for setting up a development environment with it and Mono and windows:

Use Delphi Prism 2010
