I'm a novice VB and Visual Studio amateur user. I've been developing app in VS 2019 for a while with no problems. Project is stored on my google drive in a folder named "source". Recently upgraded computer, reinstalled VS 2019 and mapped google drive back in and copied "source" back. Now when I load my project, I get an error that form1.vb is not found. app has 4 forms. All of the other forms show up. Looking at the error log and properties it appears that "google drive" is added the path for the file ":g\google drive\source\repo\myapp\". Even if a copy the folder to another location it keeps looking for "google drive". IE: "new location\google drive\form1.vb" If I create a folder named "google drive" and drop in form1.vb it loads. I can't figure out where the appendage is coming from or how to fix it.
Found a working solution but not the cause.
Copied source folder to new location, deleted "form1". Then copied "form1" back in from the old non working folder. It loads as expected.

Using Visual Studio 2019, VB Windows Forms App(.Net Framework) template, my students are building projects using multiple forms, pictures (as background images and in picture boxes) and timers. When they have two or more pictures, the programs crash irretrievably.
The error message is:
Error while trying run project: (path to project location) Access is
denied.
Even if they remove the pictures, the error remains and the program no longer works. I never experienced this problem when we were using VB2015.
My student assistant tried to replicate the problem on (Vis Studio 2019) his home computer and couldn't.
If you're using an antivirus you may add an Exception to the project path.
You may also try to run VB2019 as Administrator to see if that was the problem, click on the VS2019 icon using the right button of the mouse and then click on Execute as Administrator.
I have a VB.NET project under Visual Studio 2010.
Each time I open the solution (which contains only one vb.net project), the solution explorer populates with the associated projects but appends "unavailable" next to the project name. Also, it appends "0 projects" next to the solution name.
Every time I right click and reload the project, it reloads quickly and then reverts back to unavailable.
Whats happens? I have tried to open VS 2010 in administrator mode and I get the same result.
However, If I open a command line prompt window as administrator and from that command line I launch VS 2010 in safe mode using below command:
devenv /safemode
... and then once VS 2010 opened I open the solution, it works.
So what's the problem?
Wakanda Studio (Ent. recent release), is crashing upon opening a project.
The answer to this problem has been posted on the Wakanda Forum, which I cannot access.
Make sure that you have full (read/write) access to the solution (.waSolution file, project folders, etc.).
Also make sure that the .waSolution file refers to existing .waProject and .waSettings files.
You can also clear the preference folders located at the following locations:
C:\Users{Name}\AppData\Roaming\Wakanda Studio
C:\Users{Name}\AppData\Roaming\Wakanda Server
C:\Users{Name}\AppData\Roaming\Wakanda Enterprise Studio
C:\Users{Name}\AppData\Roaming\Wakanda Enterprise Server
C:\Users{Name}\AppData\Local\Wakanda Studio
Rename the folders above when Wakanda is not running and then launch Wakanda to let the application recreate the default preference files.
The studio crashing bug was solved by creating a new project, and copying into it from the crashing project all the .js files, etc.
I just installed Visual Studio 2012 Ultimate and I am trying to create a managed code extension project for Excel 2010 (32 bit Office Professional Plus). I have tried using the .NET 4.0 template contained in VS Ultimate for an Excel 2010 workbook. When I create the project everything looks fine until I run it.
Excel opens and I get the error message "The customization assembly could not be found or could not be loaded. You can still edit and save the document. Contact your administrator or the author of this document for further assistance." The details section is blank.
I have tried everything I could think of to figure this out and I have run out of ideas. I removed all addins from Excel except for the VSTO Design-Time Adaptor for Excel. I removed all personal macros. I set every directory I could think of to "trusted" in Excel and lowered the security settings for all options to "enabled (not recommended)". I completely uninstalled Visual Studio and re-installed. There are no errors or warnings showing up in Visual Studio. I also checked to make sure ".NET Programmability Support" was installed for my copy of Microsoft Excel.
I would link my code but I haven't written anything. I can't even get the default template to load when I run the project. A few others at work have the same setup as me and VSTO runs fine for them using the same steps. I even had someone send me a working project but it gives me the same message when I try to run it.
Is there anything else I can check to see where the problem is occurring? I tried setting break points in the project but it is failing before it gets to any of them.
Thanks so much for your help.
I've run into the same problem with Visual Studio 2010.
I isolated the problem to an SSRS reporting link we were trying to run from the add-in. I removed all the reporting stuff (service reference, sub-dirs, etc.) - the add-in runs fine.
We just ran into this and discovered that a method had a system exception that was not handled. It was hard to track down but once the culprit method had an exception handler the customization finished loading properly.
I upgraded a Visual Studio 2003 VB.NET project to Visual Studio 2005, and a "My Project" folder was automatically created and added to my project.
What is the purpose of the auto generated folder "My Project"? This folder is empty, and I would love to get rid of this folder if it's not needed.
This folder stores project Data Sources (Data menu), resources and settings (probably other things too). All of this is configurable through Project menu, Properties... If you aren't using any of those features now, Visual Studio should recreate the folder if you ever start using anything that requires it.
Give the tree of your Solution.
I think that in this directory should be old project, but you probably dont check backup option.
