I am new to VueJS and after reading this doc section and this question, I can't figure how to change dynamically the prop active|positive|intermediary|negative and pulse of the following component (it could be another): vue-status-indicator
eg: with user.status = positive and the following wrong code :
<span v-for="user in users" :key="user.id">
<status-indicator {{ user.status }}></status-indicator>
</span>
What is the correct syntax to set theses type of props ?
You could do something like this.. I had to write a wrapper for it to make it functional..
[CodePen Mirror]
Edit To be clear - you cannot interpolate inside an attribute.. This has to do with boolean attributes in Vue..
This:
<status-indicator active pulse />
...is the same exact thing as doing this:
<status-indicator :active="true" :pulse="true" />
The "wrapper" component I wrote allows you to supply a string to set the status (like you are wanting to do):
<v-indicator status="active" pulse></v-indicator>
<!-- OR -->
<v-indicator status="positive" pulse></v-indicator>
<!-- OR -->
<v-indicator status="intermediary" pulse></v-indicator>
<!-- OR -->
<v-indicator status="negative" pulse></v-indicator>
Here is the full "wrapper" component, in .vue format: (added a validator for the 'status' prop)
<template>
<status-indicator
:active="indicatorStatus.active"
:positive="indicatorStatus.positive"
:intermediary="indicatorStatus.intermediary"
:negative="indicatorStatus.negative"
:pulse="pulse"
></status-indicator>
</template>
<script>
export default {
props: {
status: {
type: String,
required: true,
validator: (prop) => [
'active',
'positive',
'intermediary',
'negative',
].includes(prop)
},
pulse: {
type: Boolean,
required: false,
default: false,
},
},
data() {
return {
indicatorStatus: {
active: false,
positive: false,
intermediary: false,
negative: false,
}
}
},
watch: {
status() {
this.handleStatusChange(this.status);
}
},
methods: {
handleStatusChange(newStatus) {
Object.keys(this.indicatorStatus).forEach(v => this.indicatorStatus[v] = false);
this.indicatorStatus[newStatus] = true;
}
},
mounted() {
this.handleStatusChange(this.status);
}
}
</script>
Snippet:
const vIndicator = {

I have prepared a functional code example in JSFiddle of VUE field interaction.

I have a custom autocomplete component that works properly, a normal input field, and a 'Load' button which objetive is to load the value entered in the normal input in the autocomplete field.
This 'load' button is not working.

See this new fiddle where it is fixed.
When you use v-model on a custom component you need to add a property named value and watch it for changes, so it can update the local property this.search.
I have a custom table with actions via a modal popup that set values on Rows. Things are mostly working great (Updates to Foo and Bar get sent to the backend and are set in a database, reload of the page pulls the data from the database and shows foo/bar were correctly set). The only not-great part is on setting of Foo, the value in the table does not get updated. Bar gets updated/is reactive. (the template uses foo.name and bar.id). Does anyone have any ideas on how to get Foo to update in the table? I've changed the moustache template to use {{ foo.id }} and it updates, but I need foo.name.

There are two possibilities you can try both if any one of them can help you.
You can set value by using Vuejs this.$set method for deep reactivity. Click here.
You can use this.$nextTick(()=>{ // set your variable here }). Click here.
I am using a pagination library ( https://github.com/arnedesmedt/vue-ads-pagination ) and the VueAdsPageButton has a hidden prop on it called active that is a boolean value depending on whether or not the button is active. I am trying to set the id based on whether or not the active prop is true so I can style it accordingly. I tried:
v-bind:id="{ selected: active} but I get the warning that active is referenced in the render but doesn't exist. Not sure what I am doing wrong here.
This is my code below:
<VueAdsPagination
:total-items="totalOrdersNumber ? totalOrdersNumber : 0"
:page="page"
:loading="loading"
:items-per-page="10"
:max-visible-pages="10"
#page-change="pageChange"
#range-change="rangeChange"
>
<template
slot="buttons"
slot-scope="props"
>
<VueAdsPageButton
v-for="(button, key) in props.buttons"
v-bind:id="{ selected: active}"
:key="key"
:page="page"
v-bind="button"
#page-change="page = button.page;"
/>
</template>
</VueAdsPagination>
EDIT:
here is the component code from the library for VueAdsPageButton
<template>
<button
:class="buttonClasses"
:disabled="disabled"
:title="title"
#click="pageChange"
>
<i
v-if="loading"
class="fa fa-spinner fa-spin"
/>
<span
v-else
v-html="html"
/>
</button>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'VueAdsPageButton',
props: {
page: {
type: [
Number,
String,
],
required: true,
},
active: {
type: Boolean,
default: false,
},
disabled: {
type: Boolean,
default: false,
},
html: {
type: String,
required: true,
},
title: {
type: String,
default: '',
},
loading: {
type: Boolean,
default: false,
},
disableStyling: {
type: Boolean,
default: false,
},
},
computed: {
buttonClasses () {
if (this.disableStyling) {
return {};
}
return {
'focus:vue-ads-outline-none': true,
'vue-ads-ml-1': true,
'vue-ads-leading-normal': true,
'vue-ads-w-6': true,
'vue-ads-bg-teal-500': this.active,
'vue-ads-text-white': this.active,
'vue-ads-cursor-default': this.active || this.disabled,
'vue-ads-bg-gray-200': this.disabled && this.page !== '...',
'vue-ads-text-gray': this.disabled && this.page !== '...',
'hover:vue-ads-bg-gray-100': !this.active && !this.disabled,
};
},
},
methods: {
pageChange () {
if (
this.page === '...' ||
this.disabled ||
this.active
) {
return;
}
this.$emit('page-change');
},
},
};
</script>
You can bind custom id or class on active button like this:
<vue-ads-page-button
v-for="(button, key) in props.buttons"
:key="key"
v-bind="button"
:id="button.active ? 'some-id' : null"
:class="{'some-class': button.active}"
#page-change="page = button.page"
#range-change="start = button.start; end = button.end"
/>
Here is also JSFiddle from library documentation where you can also see this - Link
I have an object like this:
myObject: {
items: [{
title: '140',
isActive: true,
}, {
title: '7',
isActive: false
}, {
title: '10',
isActive: false
}]
}
Which I'm using like this:
<my-component :items="myObject.items"></my-component>
This is how the component looks like:
<template>
<div class="i-panel panel-container d-flex"
<div
v-for="item in prefs.items"
class="panel-item"
#click="onClick(item)">
<!-- some content -->
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'IPanel',
props: {
items: {
type: Array,
default () {
return []
}
}
},
computed: {
// code
prefs () {
return {
items: this.items
}
}
},
methods: {
onClick (item) {
this.prefs.items.forEach(item => {
if (JSON.stringify(item) === JSON.stringify(clickedItem)) {
item.isActive = true
}
})
}
}
}
</script>
When I click an item (and that item is the same as the clickedItem), it's supposed to become isActive true. It does. But I have to refresh the Vue devtools or re-render the page for the change to take effect.
Why isn't item.isActive = true reactive?
In the code you posted, you are using a clickedItem object that is not defined anywhere. I don't know if this is just in the process of writing your question or if it is your problem.
However, when using clickedItem the right way, it seems to work: https://jsfiddle.net/d5z93ygy/4/
HTML
<div id="app" class="i-panel panel-container d-flex">
<div
v-for="item in prefs.items"
class="panel-item"
#click="onClick(item)">
<!-- some content -->{{ item.isActive ? 'active' : 'inactive' }}
</div>
</div>
JS
new Vue({
el: "#app",
data: {
items: [{
title: '140',
isActive: true,
}, {
title: '7',
isActive: false
}, {
title: '10',
isActive: false
}]
},
computed: {
// code
prefs () {
return {
items: this.items
}
}
},
methods: {
onClick (clickedItem) {
this.prefs.items.forEach(item => {
if (JSON.stringify(item) === JSON.stringify(clickedItem)) {
item.isActive = true
}
})
}
}
})
Change
<div
v-for="item in prefs.items"
class="panel-item"
#click="onClick(item)">
<!-- some content -->
</div>
to
<div
v-for="(item, index) in prefs.items"
class="panel-item"
#click="onClick(index)">
<!-- some content -->
</div>
Then, in your change method, go like this:
onClick (index) {
Vue.set(this.items, index, true);
}

As a vuejs component, I want to be able to display a character counter next to my input field.
The field is initially set up using a prop (this.initialValue).
When the method this.updateCounter is called the input textfield is blocked : typing into the field won't update its value. If I don't set the maxlength prop, the field is working fine : I can update the textfield.
Usage in a template :
<textfield maxlength="50" name="title" initialValue="Test"></textfield>
Here is the component code :
<template>
<div class="input">
<div class="input__field">
<span class="input__limit f--small">{{ counter }}</span>
<input type="text" :name="name" :maxlength="computedMaxlength" v-model="currentValue" />
</div>
</div>
</template>
<script>
export default {
name: 'Textfield',
props: {
name: {
default: ''
},
maxlength: {
default: 0
},
initialValue: {
default: ''
}
},
computed: {
hasMaxlength: function () {
return this.maxlength > 0;
},
computedMaxlength: function () {
if(this.hasMaxlength) return this.maxlength;
else return false;
},
currentValue: {
get: function() {
return this.initialValue;
},
set: function(newValue) {
this.updateCounter(newValue);
this.$emit("change", newValue);
}
}
},
data: function () {
return {
counter: 0
}
},
methods: {
updateCounter: function (newValue) {
if(this.maxlength > 0) this.counter = this.maxlength - newValue.length;
}
},
mounted: function() {
this.updateCounter(this.initialValue);
}
}
</script>
Edit
I have fixed my issue by not using v-model but instead using a value and an input event.
data: function () {
return {
value: this.initialValue,
counter: 0
}
},
methods: {
updateCounter: function (newValue) {
if(this.maxlength > 0) this.counter = this.maxlength - newValue.toString().length;
},
onInput: function(event) {
const newValue = event.target.value;
this.value = newValue;
this.updateCounter(newValue);
this.$emit("change", newValue);
}
},
