PHP do while with multiple while conditions - while-loop

I'm hoping somone might be able to help me here. I've had a look and found someone who has had he same issue:
Do-While Loop with Multiple Conditions
However I've checked and cannot see where i'm going wrong
Here's my code:
$x=0;
$y=0;
do {
$x = rand(0,5);
$y++;
} while ($x!=5 || $y<=5);
and so I was expecting the following: Either the code to stop when X was not == 5 OR y was more than 5. However the result i got was x=5 and y=>5
To put the theory to the test i changed my code to:
$x=0;
$y=0;
echo'<br />--x-y';
do {
$x = rand(0,5);
$y++;
echo'<br />--'.$x.'-'.$y;
if($y>5)
echo"-I should finish here";
} while ($x!==5 || $y<=5);
echo "<br />x=".$x;
echo "<br />y=".$y;
and in one instance i ended up with :
--x-y
--5-1
--3-2
--4-3
--4-4
--2-5
--4-6-I should finish here
--1-7-I should finish here
--3-8-I should finish here
--3-9-I should finish here
--3-10-I should finish here
--3-11-I should finish here
--5-12-I should finish here
x=5
y=12
Any suggestions as to where i'm going wrong?

You want to stop when (X = 5 or Y > 5). The condition inside while is for continuing, so you have to inverse the condition to: (X != 5 AND Y <= 5)

channel checks as empty even if it has content

I am trying to have a process that is launched only if a combination of conditions is met, but when checking if a channel has a path to a file, it always returns it as empty. Probably I am doing something wrong, in that case please correct my code. I tried to follow some of the suggestions in this issue but no success.
Consider the following minimal example:
process one {
output:
file("test.txt") into _chProcessTwo
script:
"""
echo "Hello world" > "test.txt"
"""
}
// making a copy so I check first if something in the channel or not
// avoids raising exception of MultipleInputChannel
_chProcessTwo.into{
_chProcessTwoView;
_chProcessTwoCheck;
_chProcessTwoUse
}
//print contents of channel
println "Channel contents: " + _chProcessTwoView.toList().view()
process two {
input:
file(myInput) from _chProcessTwoUse
when:
(!_chProcessTwoCheck.toList().isEmpty())
script:
def test = _chProcessTwoUse.toList().isEmpty() ? "I'm empty" : "I'm NOT empty"
println "The outcome is: " + test
}
I want to have process two run if and only if there is a file in the _chProcessTwo channel.
If I run the above code I obtain:
marius#dev:~/pipeline$ ./bin/nextflow run test.nf
N E X T F L O W ~ version 19.09.0-edge
Launching `test.nf` [infallible_gutenberg] - revision: 9f57464dc1
[c8/bf38f5] process > one [100%] 1 of 1 ✔
[- ] process > two -
[/home/marius/pipeline/work/c8/bf38f595d759686a497bb4a49e9778/test.txt]
where the last line are actually the contents of _chProcessTwoView
If I remove the when directive from the second process I get:
marius#mg-dev:~/pipeline$ ./bin/nextflow run test.nf
N E X T F L O W ~ version 19.09.0-edge
Launching `test.nf` [modest_descartes] - revision: 5b2bbfea6a
[57/1b7b97] process > one [100%] 1 of 1 ✔
[a9/e4b82d] process > two [100%] 1 of 1 ✔
[/home/marius/pipeline/work/57/1b7b979933ca9e936a3c0bb640c37e/test.txt]
with the contents of the second worker .command.log file being: The outcome is: I'm empty
I tried also without toList()
What am I doing wrong? Thank you in advance
Update: a workaround would be to check _chProcessTwoUse.view() != "" but that is pretty dirty
Update 2 as required by #Steve, I've updated the code to reflect a bit more the actual conditions i have in my own pipeline:
def runProcessOne = true
process one {
when:
runProcessOne
output:
file("inputProcessTwo.txt") into _chProcessTwo optional true
file("inputProcessThree.txt") into _chProcessThree optional true
script:
// this would replace the probability that output is not created
def outputSomething = false
"""
if ${outputSomething}; then
echo "Hello world" > "inputProcessTwo.txt"
echo "Goodbye world" > "inputProcessThree.txt"
else
echo "Sorry. Process one did not write to file."
fi
"""
}
// making a copy so I check first if something in the channel or not
// avoids raising exception of MultipleInputChannel
_chProcessTwo.into{
_chProcessTwoView;
_chProcessTwoCheck;
_chProcessTwoUse
}
//print contents of channel
println "Channel contents: " + _chProcessTwoView.view()
println _chProcessTwoView.view() ? "Me empty" : "NOT empty"
process two {
input:
file(myInput) from _chProcessTwoUse
when:
(runProcessOne)
script:
"""
echo "The outcome is: ${myInput}"
"""
}
process three {
input:
file(defaultInput) from _chUpstreamProcesses
file(inputFromProcessTwo) from _chProcessThree
script:
def extra_parameters = _chProcessThree.isEmpty() ? "" : "--extra-input " + inputFromProcessTwo
"""
echo "Hooray! We got: ${extra_parameters}"
"""
}
As #Steve mentioned, I should not even check if a channel is empty, NextFlow should know better to not initiate the process. But I think in this construct I will have to.
Marius
I think part of the problem here is that process 'one' creates only optional outputs. This makes dealing with the optional inputs in process 'three' a bit tricky. I would try to reconcile this if possible. If this can't be reconciled, then you'll need to deal with the optional inputs in process 'three'. To do this, you'll basically need to create a dummy file, pass it into the channel using the ifEmpty operator, then use the name of the dummy file to check whether or not to prepend the argument's prefix. It's a bit of a hack, but it works pretty well.
The first step is to actually create the dummy file. I like shareable pipelines, so I would just create this in your baseDir, perhaps under a folder called 'assets':
mkdir assets
touch assets/NO_FILE
Then pass in your dummy file if your '_chProcessThree' channel is empty:
params.dummy_file = "${baseDir}/assets/NO_FILE"
dummy_file = file(params.dummy_file)
process three {
input:
file(defaultInput) from _chUpstreamProcesses
file(optfile) from _chProcessThree.ifEmpty(dummy_file)
script:
def extra_parameters = optfile.name != 'NO_FILE' ? "--extra-input ${optfile}" : ''
"""
echo "Hooray! We got: ${extra_parameters}"
"""
}
Also, these lines are problematic:
//print contents of channel
println "Channel contents: " + _chProcessTwoView.view()
println _chProcessTwoView.view() ? "Me empty" : "NOT empty"
Calling view() will emit all values from the channel to stdout. You can ignore whatever value it returns. Unless you enable DSL2, the channel will then be empty. I think what you're looking for here is a closure:
_chProcessTwoView.view { "Found: $it" }
Be sure to append -ansi-log false to your nextflow run command so the output doesn't get clobbered. HTH.

Where to find the goto statement in Automation Anywhere?

I encountered this scenario that I just need to jump to another line of code in my program using AA.
Unfortunately AA does not have goto statement in command section. Is there a solution on how to use goto statement in AA?
AutomationAnywhere doesn't have "goto" command.
Alternate options is you can create another task and use Run Task command.
If your requirement is like
loop(1..10)
{
if (num % 2 == 0)
goto even;
else
goto odd;
}
even:
echo "even";
return;
odd:
echo "odd";
return;
You can design your AA Bot by creating 3 bots. MainBot, evenBot and oddBot.
MainBot should be like this.
loop(1..10)
{
if (num % 2 == 0)
Run Task evenBot;
else
Run Task oddBot;
}

while loop end everything after it's complete

So I'm trying to make a lottery program where you pick a animal, letter, and number, those are put into a array and compared to another that has the parts chosen by random.
Testing with what I call the animal round.
I have a while loop for invalid entries, that it will not move on till one of the four animals is accepted. But when it does that, the variable invalid goes to false and the coding after it doesn't get used at all. I had this problem last night, and when I finally gave up and went to bed, I decided I'll write it out on flowgorithm (If you haven't heard it makes a flow chart and you can go through programming with it step by step).
I made it, and it worked like expected, I copy and paste it over, and I get the exact same problem as last night.
Here is the code.
#import library
import random
#get variables
game = True
invalid = True
animalarray = [""]
animalarray.append("tiger")
animalarray.append("cow")
animalarray.append("turtle")
animalarray.append("bird")
lotteryarray = [""]
#game loop
#animal round
print("Pick a animal: ")
print("tiger")
print("cow")
print("turtle")
print("bird")
print(" ")
lotteryarray[0] = input()
#while loop for invalid entry
while invalid == True:
if lotteryarray[0] == "tiger" or lotteryarray[0] == "cow" or lotteryarray[0] == "turtle" or lotteryarray[0] == "bird":
invalid == False
else:
print("Invalid entry!")
lotteryarray[0] = input()
print(" ")
print("You chose " + lotteryarray[0])
game == False
And this is all I get in the shell:
Pick a animal:
tiger
cow
turtle
bird
tiger
the tiger there is what I put in, it isn't being printed.
And here is the flowgorithm, like I said, in flowgorithm this works.
flowgorithm of lottery game
I figured it out.
I printed what invalid was after it was meant to change to False and it didn't change, I changed the two equal signs to one and it worked and changed the value.

3Ds MAx Script for Reading Pixels from an image

We are trying to read the pixels from an uploaded Bitmap image, yet the line
aBrightness = (0.2126*aPixel[1].red) + (0.7152*aPixel[1].green) + (0.0722*aPixel[1].blue) always gives an error saying "Unknown property: "red" in undefined".
Our current script is:
aBitmap = selectBitMap caption:"Select a Bitmap"
Print(aBitmap.height)
Print(aBitmap.width)
aLength = aBitmap.height
aWidth = aBitmap.width
for i = 0 to (aLength - 10) by 10 do
(
for j = 0 to (aWidth - 10) by 10 do
(
Print(i)
Print(j)
aPixel = getPixels aBitmap [i,j] 1
aBrightness = (0.2126*aPixel[1].red) + (0.7152*aPixel[1].green) + (0.0722*aPixel[1].blue)
aBox = box pos:[i,j,0] width:0.1 length:0.1 height:aBrightness
)
)
We would really appreciate any help regarding this script.
You have your coordinates wrong. The X value goes first.
It should be
APixels = Getpixels aBitmap [j, i] 1
You can check to see if aPixel is undefined before using it.
aPixel = getPixels aBitmap [i,j] 1
if (aPixel == undefined) do ( format "ERROR!!! [%,%]\n" i, j to:listener; continue )
aBrightness = (0.2126*aPixel[1].red) + (0.7152*aPixel[1].green) + (0.0722*aPixel[1].blue)
This might help you figure where the bug is. Often a function will return 'undefined' to a variable so you need to check if it is undefined. In this case, once you fix the bug, you can remove this type of code since you will have eliminated undefined behavior. Notice I used "format" instead of "print", this is much nicer to use for just a tiny extra code.
I see two suspicious things to check.
1) Most indexing in maxscript starts with 1 not 0. Check the documentation.
2) As Rotem pointed out, [x,y], not [y,x]

How can I implement incremental (find-as-you-type) search on command line?

I'd like to write small scripts which feature incremental search (find-as-you-type) on the command line.
Use case: I have my mobile phone connected via USB, Using gammu --sendsms TEXT I can write text messages. I have the phonebook as CSV, and want to search-as-i-type on that.
What's the easiest/best way to do it? It might be in bash/zsh/Perl/Python or any other scripting language.
Edit:
Solution: Modifying Term::Complete did what I want. See below for the answer.
I get the impression GNU Readline supports this kind of thing. Though, I have not used it myself. Here is a C++ example of custom auto complete, which could easily be done in C too. There is also a Python API for readline.
This StackOverflow question gives examples in Python, one of which is ...
import readline
def completer(text, state):
options = [x in addrs where x.startswith(text)]
if state < options.length:
return options[state]
else
return None
readline.set_completer(completer)
this article on Bash autocompletion may help. This article also gives examples of programming bash's auto complete feature.
Following Aiden Bell's hint, I tried Readline in Perl.
Solution 1 using Term::Complete (also used by CPAN, I think):
use Term::Complete;
my $F;
open($F,"<","bin/phonebook.csv");
my #terms = <$F>; chomp(#terms);
close($F);
my $input;
while (!defined $input) {
$input = Complete("Enter a name or number: ",#terms);
my ($name,$number) = split(/\t/,$input);
print("Sending SMS to $name ($number).\n");
system("sudo gammu --sendsms TEXT $number");
}
Press \ to complete, press Ctrl-D to see all possibilities.
Solution 2: Ctrl-D is one keystroke to much, so using standard Term::Readline allows completion and the display off possible completions using only \.
use Term::ReadLine;
my $F;
open($F,"<","bin/phonebook.csv");
my #terms = <$F>; chomp(#terms);
close($F);
my $term = new Term::ReadLine;
$term->Attribs->{completion_function} = sub { return #terms; };
my $prompt = "Enter name or number >> ";
my $OUT = $term->OUT || \*STDOUT;
while ( defined (my $input = $term->readline($prompt)) ) {
my ($name,$number) = split(/\t/,$input);
print("Sending SMS to $name ($number).\n");
system("sudo gammu --sendsms TEXT $number");
}
This solution still needs a for completion.
Edit: Final Solution
Modifying Term::Complete (http://search.cpan.org/~jesse/perl-5.12.0/lib/Term/Complete.pm) does give me on the fly completion.
Source code: http://search.cpan.org/CPAN/authors/id/J/JE/JESSE/perl-5.12.0.tar.gz
Solution number 1 works with this modification. I will put the whole sample online somewhere else if this can be used by somebody
Modifications of Completion.pm (just reusing it's code for Control-D and \ for each character):
