Is there a way to set a default path when opening a project?
(File -> Open) . It's always pointing out to X:\Users\\Username.
I've been googling and looking inside X:\Users\Username\.IdeaIC15\config\options for configuration file which could be the case, but found nothing so far. Anyone know where i can change it?
I searched for a solution, but there is no easy one in IDEA/Webstorm UI.
You have to edit the webstorm64.vmoptions/ idea64.vmoptions file (or webstorm.vmoptions/ idea.vmoptions if you are on a 32bit system).
Add the line
-Duser.home=YOUR_NEW_DEFAULT_PATH
The IDE settings folder (e.g. .WebStorm11) must be either copied to your new path or imported on first start of IntelliJ/WebStorm.

When I create a new file in IntelliJ IDEA, it gets automatically ignored by Subversion, no matter what, and it is impossible to commit the file. While in Spring Tool Suite all I need to do is right click and select Team>Add to version control in order to commit that new file. I have try several approaches with no success since many options are disabled.
When I create a new file in IntelliJ IDEA, it gets automatically ignored by Subversion
What do you mean by automatically? There is no any automatic rules - file is either configured as ignored, or not. Make sure there is no svn:ignore property set on the folder (probably not since other tools work).
Also, make sure nothing wrong is added to Settings | Version Control | Ignored Files. The description looks like you have the entire project or sources folder added there as ignored
Finally I found a solution: the problem was that a parent directory was being ignored by SVN, so I searched directory by directory starting with the current directory until I found a parent directory that had a configuration to ignore all directories, for this task I used tortoise, just right click and select TortoiseSVN>Properties look for ignored files and delete the directory you want to synchronize, if no you donĀ“t find the directory look for (*).
I have read this... it does not answer the question.
I would like to have IntelliJ use another location for all of my project files. Currently, it goes to c:\users\ as a default project location.
I want to change that to c:\git.
I tried to change the "Start in" link properties, to no avail.
I don't want to force all of the configuration (ie: the .IdeaIC15 folder) to be relocated, I just want it to go to c:\git when I click "Open project".
To change the directory where project files are located to C:\git:
Select Help->Edit Custom VM Options...
Add the following line to the end of the file that comes up in the editor (*):
-Duser.home=C:\git
Restart IntelliJ.
(*) The file that comes up in the editor will either be idea64.exe.vmoptions or idea.exe.vmoptions.
Notes:
This will update/create a .vmoptions file in your config directory. It does not modify the vmoptions file in your install directory.
The above steps do not change the default directory that is used
when cloning git repositories. This is the directory that is used in
the File->New->Project from Version Control->Git window. You
still need to set that directory to C:\git and clone one remote repo
into C:\git. Once you have done that IntelliJ remembers the directory and
uses it for subsequent clones.

Locations can be changed by editing the following file:
IDE_HOME\bin\idea.properties
Follow the comments in idea.properties file to change the defaults, make sure to un-comment the lines defining these properties:
idea.config.path
idea.system.path
idea.plugins.path
idea.log.path
I have a computer with two hard drives. In the first one, an SSD disk, I have Windows partition (C) and on the second one (D), a raid volume, I install all the programs. I also moved my user folders (desktop, documents, downloads, pictures and videos) to D:/Users/David.
After installing IntelliJ Idea on D:/Program Filles(x86) a .IntelliJIdea13 directory appeared on D:/Users/David. No problem with this as all was working nice. Then I installed Scala plugin, created a new SBT project and build it. After this, the .sbt directory used by SBT was in C:/Users/David/.sbt but the references to the libraries in my project are pointing to D:/Users/David/.sbt. The question is, how can I force IntelliJ Idea or Scala plugin to download the libraries to D:/Users/David.sbt?
Not 100% sure if this can be a solution, you can change the HOME folder of Intellij IDEA. Look for the folder where the idea executable is. In Linux I have on
~/applications/idea13/bin
On Windows you can check the properties of the menu item. There should be file idea.properties that contains the home folder location of the idea files.
You can find more information here that describe more details:

On the other hand you can change the location of your project to D:/Users/David. you should also have a look inside the project folder, there should be a .idea folder with has a library directory. They contains the location of the libs used in the project with their paths.
As dawez allready answered, you should edit idea.properties to set config, system, plugins and log paths.
But if you want to change the user.home path, then you must edit idea.exe.vmoptions file. Just add the following at the end of the file:
-Duser.home=your_new_user_home_path
If you use idea64.exe then you should edit idea64.exe.vmoptions file.
JetBrains had added complete set of features to support such a case and this is described here:

I have imported the folder containing SUPQueueConnection.h to the project and to the project root too. Still it is showing the same error SUPQueueConnection.h file not found.
And we imported all such needed .h and .m files to the project root.
Is there any other way for doing it?
Can anyone please help me in solving this problem?
In project navigation bar of your project check the folder you imported that it actually contains SUPQueueConnection.h file or not and if it is there try to import header file in the class in which you are using "SUPQueueConnection.h" file. Also if project is showing SUPQueueConnection.h file then right click on this file and click "Show IN Finder" option to see where actually the file is.Make sure it is copied in project folder.
If it does not solve the problem try deleting this file and drag and drop SUPQueueConnection.h again in project directly and make sure while copying on target your project is check marked.
Have you made sure that the files that aren't found are actually in your Xcode project? Make sure you can see the files somewhere in the sidebar. I've never actually tried it, but I don't think you can simply access files in the project directory root, they must be in your project. Xcode has changed since I used it last (been doing other things) but I think you can still add files by right clicking somewhere in your sidebar, also unless its changed you can add external files using a button in the file menu
I have a problem using Intellij Idea.
I am absolutely unable to load text file as InputStream - it doesnt matter where do I put the file (main/java, main/resources...) it just can't find the file - in Eclipse everything works just fine.
I tried setings->compiler->resource patterns and added ?*.txt but that doesn't seem to work either.
Any help is appreciated.
If you load it as a File, make sure that Working Directory is properly set in IDEA Run/Debug Configuration, since it's the default directory where Java will look for a file when you try to access it like new File("file.txt"). Working directory should be set to the directory of your project containing .txt files.
If you load files as a classpath resource, then they should reside somewhere under Source root and will be copied to the classpath according to Settings | Compiler | Resource Patterns.
If you can't get it working, upload your project somewhere including IDEA project files so that we can point to your mistake.
Look at the image, notice that the txt files are in the project root, and not the source folders (in blue).
If you open the Project Structure dialog, and click on Modules and select your module - are the correct folders marked as Source Folders on the sources tab?

Also, if you print out the absolute path of that file you are trying to read, is that anywhere near where you expect it to be?
An easy way to figure out the same would be to try creating a file in the same fashion and see where it gets created in your project. You can put your input file at the same location and it should work just fine (if it doesn't, you should check your resource pattern which might be causing the file to be not copied over in the build output).
This method actually gives you the working directory of your intellij settings which is pointed out in the accepted answer. Just sharing as I had similar trouble and I figured out this way. :)
