I need to use IDictionary in my project. When I add this compiler does not like it and report an obvious error
“error C2872: 'IDictionary' : ambiguous symbol” . However if I create a new sample project compiler never reports any error

Since your application has more that one IDictionary interface in different namespaces you'll have to fully qualify the reference. For example:
System::Collections::IDictionary^ d
Or whatever the namespace of the other IDictionary type is.
Alternatively you could remove the using statements for one of the namespace's.

Using both Microsoft.Web.RedisSessionStateProvider and Microsoft.Web.RedisOutputCacheProvider

I have installed and used Microsoft.Web.RedisSessionStateProvider for a while and after looking at OutputCaching I thought of installing Microsoft.Web.RedisOutputCacheProvider as well but they both have Microsoft.Web.Redis.ISerializer interface which breaks my JsonCacheSerializer as it uses the ISerializer interface.
I am getting an error in VS 2017, which reads ...

Accesing arraylist property from another class using constructor

So i have a class that makes an array list for me and i need to access it in another class through a constructor but i don't know what to put into the constructor because all my methods in that class are just for manipulating that list. im either getting a null pointer exception or a out of bounds exception. ive tried just leaving the constructor empty but that dosent seem to help. thanks in advance. i would show you code but my professor is very strict on academic dishonesty so i cant sorry if that makes it hard.

It depends on what the second class does with the arraylist.
Instead of passing the list thru the constructor, you may add functions to read or change, as public, the elements of the hidden internal arraylist.

Just came across the latest build of Mono.CSharp and love the promise it offers.

I've seen the use compiled delegates -- but that was for the previous version of Mono.CSharp, and it doesn't seem to work any longer.
Anybody have a suggestion on how to do this with the current version?

I know it's almost 9 years later, but I think I found a viable solution to inject local variables. It is using a static variable but can still be used by multiple evaluators without collision.
You can use a static Dictionary<string, object> which holds the reference to be injected. Let's say we are doing all this from within our class CsharpConsole:

The idea is to temporarily place the value in there with a GUID as key so there won't be any conflict between multiple evaluator instances. To inject do this:

Also for accessing local variables there is a workaround using Reflection so you can have a nice [] accessor with get and set:

Using this trick, you can even inject delegates and functions that your evaluated code can call from within the script. For instance, I inject a print function which my code can call to ouput something to the gui console window:

Why can I not get any results from this rather trivial query?

I'm trying to get results from a rather trivial query, and write out those results on a jsp page. Running Glassfish 3.1, using Netbeans. When I run the project, I get an empty list returned from the routine.
When I right click the table in Services and hit View Data, I can see the table is populated, and when I copy and past the query into the SQL Command window and run it, it gives the expected list of length 2.
There are a few similar questions (like this one), none of which seemed to be of much help. I am new at this, so I may not have understood a solution to one of the other questions.
There are a lot of factors at play here, and I'm not really sure what to include. I have included the routine doing the query, the JSP Code calling that routine, the entity class I'm using, and the output of the server log that I get when the project is run. If more information is needed, let me know and I'll put it up.

Your getCategories() method always returns an empty list, because the return in finally always runs (even after the first return).
You don't need a finally clause there at all. You can simplify to this

If your query.getResultList() is not empty, then it returns a non empty linked list of strings.

How to rename a component column that is a foreign key?

We are using fluentnhibernate with automapping and we have a naming convention that all columns that are foreign keys, there column name will end with "Key". So we have a convention that looks like this:

This works great until we created a component in which one of its values is a foreign key. By renaming the column here it overrides the default name given to the component column which includes the ComponentPrefix which is defined in the AutomappingConfiguration. Is there a way for me to get the ComponentPrefix in this convention? or is there some other way for me to get the column name for components with a property that is a foreign key to end in the word "Key"?
After a lot of fiddling and trial & error (thus being tempted to use your solution with Reflection) I came up with the following:
This method depends on the order of the execution of the conventions. This convention-order happens via a strict hierarchy. In this example, at first, the convention of the component (IDynamicComponentConvention) is being handled and after that the conventions of the inner properties are being handled such as the References mapping (IReferenceConvention).
The strict order is where we make our strike:
We assemble the correct name of the column in the call to Apply(IDynamicComponentConvention instance), put it on the queue. Note that a Queue<T> is used which is a FIFO (first-in-first-out) collection type thus it keeps the order correctly.
Almost immediately after that, Apply(IManyToOneInstanceinstance) is called. We check if there is anything in the queue. If there is, we take it out of the queue and set it as column name. Note that you should not use Peek() instead of Dequeue() as it does not remove the object from the queue.
The code is as follows:

I Have figured out a way to do this using reflection to get to the underlying mapping of the IManyToOneInspector exposed by the IComponentInstance but was hoping there was a better way to do this?
