I have an IDE for java (and android), also recently have downloaded the ide for php development.
Is it possible to use both (not at the same time) ide's from the same application?
Now i have eclipse juno for java and eclipse luna for php...
I managed to download c++ ide into the eclipse version that i used for java.
Basically look for p2 software repository of the IDE of your choice and paste the link into: work with, under install new software, under help.
Now i have 2 different IDE's working under same application (should be possible to have more)
Also a comment to the downvoter: It is not wise to downvote without explaining the reason of your action....

I am using a tutorial and it show there is a java desktop application under the project option in his IDE (after click on new project the new project page will open and under java category there is a java desktop application) . And I should chose it in my IDE and it is not there.why it is not there?what i should do to have it?
my IDE version is 7.3 . and in tutorial he is using version 6.

You have actually answered your own question without realizing it. The reason that Java Desktop Application is not in your version of Netbeans (making an assumption here based on prior experience with this exact issue) is because it was deprecated as of version 7.1. Though it is more complex, you might want to look into learning how to use the Netbeans Platform instead as it is considered the replacement for what used to be labeled a Java Desktop Application in Netbeans.
I am a beginner with Play2 framework and Scala.
Is there any eclipse play 2 plugin available?
If yes, then please provide me the link for the same. I am used to Eclipse and have never used Scala before;hence in a confusion like how and where to start from. Looking at the Play2 Doc, sems like working in command prompt IDE which is very difficult (though I have tried yet)
Please let me know the eclipse plugin for Play2 or some other IDE helpful for this.

There in no plugin as such for Eclipse.
Play! framework has nice set of tools for doing tasks such as following
creating new play project
running the project
deployment of the application
doing the continuous testing mode etc
Trust me, once you start using this, you gonna love it.
Beside you do not require any experience in Scala, as for Play framework you can use Java language, if you are comfortable with it (you can choose Java template while creating new Play project )
and also you can use IDE for syntax highlighting , code completion etc
I had a brief try of Play development using Eclipse and the Scala Plugin. I personally found it awkward and not terribly helpful. (The errors which the IDE reported were not always the same as the ones that the Play compiler reported, for example.)
I’ve had a lot more joy using the Intellij IDEA IDE, with its Scala plugin. As with Eclipse the current version of IDEA does not have specific support for Play Framework 2, but it does have specific support for Scala.
The next version of Intellij IDEA, v12, will have explicit support for Play Framework 2: http://www.jetbrains.com/idea/nextversion/index.html#Frameworks_Support (but only in the paid-for ‘Ultimate’ edition, not in the free ‘Community’ edition).

i find Eclipse CDT - a version of eclipse that is standalone
in my standard Eclipse SDK(not cdt)
i can do this:
Help->install new software-> then i get a window popup and ask me to give the url

my question is:
1.what is the difference between separate Eclipse CDT and installing CDT plugin onto Eclipse SDK OR are they same thing?
2. what is better? is it better to use a separate Eclipse CDT or just install a plugin inside my Eclipse SDK?

Short answer: there is no important difference[1] between the two.
Longer answer: The Eclipse IDE is nothing more than a bunch of plugins that work together to create the functionality for code editing (and other things).
When you go to http://eclipse.org/downloads, you'll see a bunch of different packages. Each package provides a certain set of features, but this is no more than a convenience so that you don't have to install the vanilla SDK and then install the stuff that you really need on top of that. The php dev will not need the C++ compiler and vice-versa. But, you can install it if you want. At it's core, the same small set of plugins are re-used between all distributions.

[1]: Actually, the difference is that the SDK includes source code for all features as well as the Java compiler and plugin development tools. The C++ tools do not include these.
just an easy quesition but I can't find any answer in this wonderful world wide web...
I just want to create a new Plugin Project based on Eclipse Helios. Normally this feature should be shipped with this version (Version: Helios Service Release 2 Build id: 20110301-1815) but I can't choose it via "file->new->Project". Do I have sth. to install previously?

It is also possible to do plugin development with any eclipse classic version. (I am working with 4.2)
For plugin development in eclipse classic version you need to go
Help-->Install New Software--> In work with select version url provided by eclipse it self. e.g. in case of 4.2 Juno it will be Juno - http://download.eclipse.org/releases/juno
It will render all the possible plugin provided by eclipse it self.
In that list there will a Eclipse plugin development environment in General purpose tools.
Or you can get that one by writing plug in filter text box.
Select Eclipse plugin development environment and install it.
Now you can able to do plugin development in classic version also.

JDE and eclipse plugin are same other than, JDE has only debug mode, but the eclipse has both debug and run mode. I am using eclipse for several years, so I feel comfortable in using eclipse. I recommend eclipse because, it is more developer friendly when compared to JDE.
I agree with Karthikeyan that eclipse has a more feature rich environment plus it can incorporate other plugins such as cvs, svn, mysql etc.
Sometimes it can take more configuration to get everything set up right properly. If you want to get your code up and running quickly without any configuration, I would highly recommend using the JDE.
