I have a cocos2d game setup which uses basic inheritance setup which is similar to this;

> - Office : Property
> - Warehouse : Property
> - Bank : Property
All the properties live in an array listOfProperties and I am trying to print out each property in a NSLog, but I am not sure how to do it.
For example,

The problem is that some properties do not share the same attributes. For example, an Office might have "floors" but a Warehouse has "capacity".
What I'm needing is to print out all the different properties, but I am not sure how to change the focus from the pointer prop to a pointer for the specific class (ie: Office).
I need them all to live in listOfProperties so that I can use it later on in a CCMenu and want to avoid splitting them up into seperate arrays which will be very hard for me to manage.
Is there a way to do this?

There's no direct equivalent to if let in Objective-C, because if let does Swift-specific things (unwrapping optionals and rebinding identifiers) that don't have direct equivalents in Objective-C.
Here's a nearly equivalent of your Swift code:

But this Objective-C code won't verify that images only contains instances of PFObject, and should successfully create an image view as long as pfobjects[0] is a PFFile. Your Swift code will do nothing (create no image view) if images contains any non-PFObject elements.
You can use NSPredicate to verify the array contains only instances of PFObject:

if let is also possible in Objective-C if type is known, so it cannot be combined with previous thing. Easiest way is: for(NSArray *array = [self getItems]; array != nil; array = nil) { ... }, but if you want to use else branch, it gets a bit more complex. I don't see iterations over your array: With all that being said, I think best example is (assuming images is an array already):

You can use Objective-C++ in place of Objective-C. In this you can use the next define:

I have NSTextField with placeholder. And it's binded to some integer property. So I want to display empty text in the field (with placeholder shown) when binded integer is zero.
Is it possible to do it?

I discovered that this can be done through NSNumberFormatter - it has —(void) setZeroSymbol: (NSString*) string method. Not tried yet this in practice...
You could use an NSValueTransformer.
(Just in case)Create a new class, subclass from NSValueTransformer. In the implementation, add something like this:

In Interface Builder, select your field, go to the bindings tab, and in the Value Transformer drop down, either select or type in your class name you made. This should prevent you from having to worry about modifying it elsewhere. I'm not 100% positive about it showing the placeholder (I don't have a Mac available right now).

check the integer value before binding, if you are binding at runtime. Try

You can not do conditional binding.
You need to create another property that will hold the value based on condition and use that property and bind to textfield.
I am using bindedString and bindedInteger. bindedString is bound to text field.
Whenever some action is performed it is updated.

I'm currently working on a project where the user defines some parameters in a NSDictionnary, that I'm using to setup some objects.
For example, you can ask to create a Sound object with parameters param1=xxx, param2=yyy, gain=3.5 ... Then an Enemi object with parameters speed=10, active=YES, name=zzz ...

I then instantiate my classes, and would like to set the ivars automatically from this dictionnary.
I've actually wrote some code to check that this parameter exists, but I'm having trouble in actually setting the parameter value, especially when the parameter is non object (float or bool).

As you can see, I don't know what to do once I've found that the parameter exists on the object. I tried to use "performSelector... withObject..., but my problem is that some of the parameters are non-objects (float or bool).
I also tried to get the class of the parameter, by using the setter, but it didn't help.
Did anyone manage to do something like that?
Jack Lawrence's comment is spot on.
What you are looking for is called Key Value Coding, or just KVC.
This fundamental part of Cocoa lets you get and set any instance variable using its name as a String and a new value.
It will automatically handle coercing Objects to primitive values, so you can use it for int and float properties too.
There is also support for validating values and handling unknown properties.

For the non-object parameters you have to put them into an object, for example NSNumber or NSValue. You can then add these objects into your dictionary.
For Example:

I have set up my simple Xcode project with a table that is binded to an array controller. It works fine if the array controller is full of entities with a string attribute. However I want to change the attribute to a BOOL and have the table show the string "true" or "false" based on the BOOL.
I have overrided the following two methods from NSFormatter:

I don't know if this helps but on the line where I'm outputting the object, it outputs __NSCFString if the attribute is a string and "Text Cell" if I switch the attribute to a boolean. This is something else I don't understand.
Ok, it's not 100% clear what you're trying to do from the code, but first things first - BOOL is not an object, it's basically 0 or 1, so to place BOOL values into an array, you're probably best off using NSNumber:
NSNumber *boolValue = [NSNumber numberWithBool:YES];
and placing these into your array. Now you want to change your method:

There's a few things here - for example, you want to avoid passing around id references if you can (if you know all your objects in the NSArray are NSNumber, you shouldn't need to).
I'm using the MKPlacemark class to populate a label with location specifics. When calling the AdministrativeArea property, the entire name of the US state is returned (e.g. West Virginia). Is there a way to return ONLY the initials (e.g. WV)?
Apple's docs for that property suggest that there's no real definition for what it can contain. Your best bet is probably to create a function to map from the full state name to the 2 letter code, and pass the result of the property through it before display. I would default to the original string if you don't get a match.
