UI Designer not in Solution Explorer and unable to get the tool - vb.net

First of all, I am developing an application in VB.NET, till yesterday it was all good. I saved the project and closed it, now when i started working on that application, i found that there was no way to open the UI area for the application. I am able to see the code behind it i.e. on dashboard.Designer.vb but not the UI. I am able to see the the application after running it using F5. What would be the possible reason for it, and how i can solve it.
Secondly, i tried to find search a lot for this tool but unable to get any, if somebody can tell me what tool is this or any similar tool, it would be of great help.

I was searching for long and found the answer:-
What we need to do is just add the following code in the blank dashboard.vb file
Public Class dashboard
End Class
And this will get the form back.
The second question was answered by #Code Gray
1. Outlook like sidebar and display in Outlook
2. Outlook navigation bar control for .NET application

How to generate Domino dialogboxes on traditional (non-xpages) webforms

I want to have a popup/dialogbox with an "OK" button on it that will close the dialogbox...after someone performs a task on a Domino webform. I know I used overlays in xpages before, but the current application I am maintaining was built with traditional Domino forms (lots of pass-thru HTML) and my initial attempt to build an overlay effect did not work.
I have tried using javascript code of:
var window = window.open(url, windowName, [windowFeatures]);
...but this has not been successful. No errors in debug, yet my url page does not pop up. I am hoping someone might be able to provide a snippet of what you use so I can see where I am going wrong.
The url parameter I am passing is correct, as I used an alert to show me what was going in there, but I am doing something basic wrong.
If I can answer any questions for you I can do that as well.
Thank you
The only way I know to display a dialog box in a classic Domino web application is to do just like you would on any HTML-based webpage. Either you create your own popup functionality, or you use one of the many plugins available.
When I work with classic Domino web applications, I have often added Bootstrap to it, to make things look a bit better. Then I can use either the native Bootstrap dialog boxes, or a plug-in called Bootbox.js. But there are many other ones.

App modeller, Identify button not showing up in blueprism spying

I am creating calculator VBO in blueprism object studio.
In application modeller I gave calc.exe path and able to launch calculator, but I am not getting identify option to spy on any element..
In Element, After clicking Launch buttion, identify is appearing for a split of sec and Launch button is coming back instead of Identify
PS- As mentioned in videos and links, I have launched calc via application modeller not directly via windows..
I am using windows 10, BluePrism V.5.0.11.0 versionenter image description here
Windows 10 calculator is complicated case, please consider using different application in your training. For example paint is much simpler to get started.
If you really need to get that going, then you may need to launch application first, using one object, and afterwards use second object to attach and interact with it.
can be two reasons
1. Either your application is not launched properly.
2. Sometimes we face problems with some versions of applications.
The best way to fix your problem is
Edit your settings remove the application path from the navigate stage.
Launch the application separately
Open Navigate stage > Action > Attach
Provide the window title within quotes (example: "Calculator")
Click OK then run the object
Now if you go to application modeller
You will be able to see the identify button under the element.
Hope this will help you.
I resolved this by unchecking "Disable invasive techniques (hooking)".
The Windows 10 calculator runs with process name win32calc which is also located under c:\windows\system32.
So when you launch the application please make you identify the applications process name and its location
I resolved this by circumventing to windows 7 calculator instead of a windows 10 calculator on windows 10.
Link to download win 7 calculator for win 10-

This will be installed in the same place as your default calculator.
Inside-
C:\Windows\System32
The name of the app in my case was "calc1.exe" to avoid collisions with the default calculator.
I used this as my base reference app for spying and it worked.
Also note, the hover to highlight button seems to be a bit buggy, try a bit hit and trail to get you required button to be highlighted and mark using "Ctrl+LeftClick"

VB.Net application highlights all files in background when running / getting focus

I have an App that I inherited in VB6 and have ported mostly to VB.net
When I compile / run the app - it highlights all the files in the current selected folder.
What makes it worse, is it's very difficult to search online as what search terms does one use?
The app was ported to VS 2005 - quite successfully - but this has me stumped...
I have tried commenting out all the code that's run on startup and it still does it, so it must be some sort of background thing...
Any ideas?
I can't find an old version of my app to see if it's changes I have made and I don't know where to begin. See the image:
The top part is before I run the app, the bottom is once the app is running and has focus. I hope it makes sense
Also, if I'm browsing and then run the app, and go back to the browser, when my app gets the focus again, the webpage goes back to the top...
The folder is just an example - Basically when I compile (or later run) my App, if I go to Windows Explorer - when the app gets focus - whatever folder I am in has all its files highlighted. If instead of going to Windows Explorer, I go to a web browser, when the app gets focus the browser goes to the top (similar to Home).
There is Windows Integratio, but I have commented out what I can and still am no closer.
Does this info help?
I found the problem - after going back to the vb6 project and removing everything except for the 5 modules needed to startup and I eventually tracked the problem.
There was some code being called when two edit boxes received focus which called send keys home and end - hence it would go home - select all files to the end. I had deactivated one of the edit boxes to not receive focus and it helped temporarily(obviously until the other box got focus), but since deactivating the send keys when they get focus has helped. Albeit an arbitrary problem, maybe it will help someone in the future..

"Action - Go to report" in VS2008 reportviewer not working

I have an SSRS report which drills through to sub reports via actions. The report functions correctly in the VS environment, and correct once deployed to the server and viewed through a browser.
The report however is also viewed inside our in-house app via a Microsoft.Reporting.WinForms.ReportViewer - and while it renders on screen correctly, clicking the element that would normally take me to a sub-report no longer functions.
I have had a look around and there seemed to be an issue around VS2010 SP1 where this stopped working, however I'm currently stuck with VS2008. This seems to be the majority of results I'm getting.
Anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks.
OK have found issue.
The text box in question had three place holders. A reference No, A date and an age. I wanted to trigger the sub report if someone clicked on the reference no. While this worked fine in VS and IE, it failed to work in the Microsoft Report Viewer control.
I have now set the action against the containing text box, rather than against a single placeholder/expression within that box. While this has solved the immediate issue that I have, it would not work if you wanted multiple actions from different placeholders in a single text box.
But for now, I'm all good, and all solved.

Forms open and load very slow. Sometimes they won't open

I have a relatively small VB winforms project.
It is currently used to launch numbers hyperlinks and some apps on a server.
There are a couple functions that do all the work, but the it really boils down to:
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("iexplore.exe", urlVar)
or if it is an app sitting on the server, the variable passed into the function appLinkVar will contain the need file path to launch the application.
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start(appLinkVar)
The "items" are stored on a SQL Local Database (.mdf)
Id, appName, appLink, appClickCount, appFavList, anddecision, which tells the function if it is calling a website or opening an executable.
Currently, there are forty rows in the database and I project 150+ in the end that need to be updated centrally and often (weekly). But that's a different question for later. The reason I added in it in this question was for insight as to why I am using a database instead of a Setting or XML file for some links. (better suggestions welcome)
My admin main form loads Visible = False and loads the icon in the system try. So you can't actually see the first form that opens. It is a hidden admin window and it's main purpose is to put the icon in the system tray. The green RJ icon - http://snag.gy/VBa6c.jpg
Then all of the app interaction is around the notify icon. Example: the app loads on hover. right-click for settings and options etc.
Once the primary form loads, on mouse over the "Primary Label" for example and the white form to the left appears and so on. Not much to it. http://snag.gy/excKr.jpg
The Frequently Accessed items is currently stored on the database called appClickCount, this will be coming off of the database and to another recommended way of storing the data. But when I initially added the database, I noticed some lag in the main form loading. It would take it 5-7 seconds to populate the Frequently Accessed Items List and so on. So I changed the code from mainWindow.show() to mainWindow.visible(). Worked great for me. opened and closed very quickly. But after some use today by a tester, the application became almost unresponsive. He clicked on the notification icon numerous times and the app failed to load. Then threw a SQL time out error. It was the end of the day and I couldn't grab a screenshot.
I need to make this more reliable.
After some discussion the other day on SO, I was talking to someone that recommended I re-write the app in C# WPF, and that is definitely the plan. But I need this thing to past testing as is in VB this week. Where can I start troubleshooting the delay in opening? What other suggestions do you have to improve the application? Do I need to have an invisible form load first so I have access to a system tray icon or is there a better way?
I have talked to quite a few people on here lately and got some really good advice, I figured I would lay it all out here and see what input you guys can give a new guy... I'm also gonna go hang in the C# room for a little bit if you have any further questions.
