is there any tool that can produce me simple application something like access
but without the need for access or open office to be installed
some thing that will save the data in real stand alone executable file with embedded simple db for non programmers.
I believe Filemaker does what you want. It's not free, however you could always download the trial and see if it fits.
If you are familiar with Access, you should look into compiling it into a standalone app using the Access runtime. Here's a thread on it.
Bear in mind that non-programmers will be quite limited in what they'll be able to accomplish, so calling this "rapid application development" is probably way overstating things.

Please suggest some good tool / software / application for managing test cases for an internet software product. Requirements:
should not be too expensive
should preferably be on an online platform (but desktop app too is okay!)
should support custom fields to classify / categorize test cases according to various dimensions like product module, persona etc.
It can be something that you use(d) in your organization or something you know of.
We are using informUp which is a test case management. we are using it as hosed solution but you can install the server on your site. it is simple but yet powerfull and allow customzied the fields. we are using it for bugs as well but you can use it only for tests cases. we are very satisfied with it

I've been programming in common lisp for a while now, and I like how there's so much handy documentation on the language online; the problem is that I'm often offline and can't access it when I need it most.
Is there a PyDoc equivalent for common lisp (or even just man pages for the language) that I can download and use in the shell?

edit: as referenced on the Cookbook, we can read the HyperSpecs offline with either Dash (MacOS), Zeal (GNU/Linux) or Velocity (Windows).

and take the data of the CL Ultra Spec: website, data
and of course browse the built-in documentation with Emacs (C-h, see the menu).

There are commercial cross-platform install tools out there and i think that they are really useful because you "compose" your setup once and the setup tool compiles it for the target platforms you want it to work for.
Unfortunately, such tools are expensive for a shareware author like me - they cost thousands of dollars. Are there similar open source projects out there?

I'm having the same problem. Looked into IZPack, IZPack with Native Laucher, Lauch4J, ... All of them way too complex to use, at least for my taste. Searching for more info on IZPack, I've run accross that one a minute ago almost by accident: http://www.installjammer.com/
Looks promising, haven't tried it yet, though.
IZPack does very fine, i think. It's comprehensive, cross-platform and has a commercial-friendly license.

Does anyone know if there is something like a Limewire API? I need to be able to make Limewire download files programmatically.
EDIT: It seems Limiwire doesn't have an API. Is there any other Gnutella P2P cliente that does?
I suppose focusing a little more upon your requirement, you've got the Gnutella downloader service/class/package API thing.

It allows you to query and download direct to the network.
Then extending that idea - you have jTella, API source for Gnutella network.

Unfortunately, there is not. Also, unfortunate: the source code is terribly difficult to read/modify. If, however, you're up to the challenge, then you can simply write your own application on top of limewire-core, which is seperate form the GUI.

I was wondering if there were any free ribbon controls for vb.net, and if there are not, how I could go about making my own. I don't want to pay $300 or more for a professional one...and I would really like to add one to my project.
What would be the best solution for finding/making one?

If possible, I would like one which is the closest to the one used in Office 2007.
