I'm trying to do something like the one the image in access. I have a form for sales and in it a subform with itens, and i would like to have a delete and edit every row so the user can delete a specific item.
can someone help me?
As the record with the button clicked becomes the current record, all you need is this code line:
Private Sub YourDeleteButton_Click()
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdDeleteRecord
End Sub

I have created A userform with few command buttons.
I can't seem to figure out how do I get the information from them.
I want to open this userform from another one and then I want the user to choose an option from one of the buttons which will change a specific cell in the table itself
the userform I created
I did not write anything on this userform therefor there is no code from it to show only the design.
how do get the information from the buttons to be written in A specific cell on a specific worksheet?
double click on one of the buttons, in the code menu a new sub should appear. this looks something like:
Sub CommandButton1_onClick()
End sub
Alongside this event method, it also has a few properties. The one that is usefull here is the CommandButton1.Value, this represents the state of the button (either true or false iirc).
So build for each button (I strongly advice giving them custom names to prevent getting lost in the trouble) as sub like this:
Sub CommandButton1_onClick()
if CommandButton1.Value then
ThisWorkBook.WorkSheets("WorksheetName").Range("YourRange").Value = "Some value"
else
ThisWorkBook.WorkSheets("WorksheetName").Range("YourRange").Value = ""
end if
End sub
I have been having a quite annoying issue on my access project.
It is an Access 2007 - 2016 file.
My database has two queries that I intend to use to filter data to feed combo-boxes.
On one of my forms I have done that with success. The first list is fed from a table, and the succeeding ones are fed by filtering their respective table based on the previous list selection.
Here is a screenshot of my form that worked out.
And here is part of the code that goes with it:
Private Sub frm01ListSetor_Click()
DoCmd.Requery (qry01_frm01ListArea)
Me![frm01ListArea] = Null
DoCmd.Requery (qry02_frm01ListEquip)
Me![frm01ListEquip] = Null
Me![frm01TextID] = Null
End Sub
Private Sub frm01ListArea_Click()
DoCmd.Requery (qry02_frm01ListEquip)
Me![frm01ListEquip] = Null
Me![frm01TextID] = Null
End Sub
Here are the queries that goes along with the code above:
qry01_frm01ListArea
SELECT tblAreas.ID_Area, tblAreas.NomeArea
FROM tblAreas
WHERE (((tblAreas.SetorArea)=[Forms]![frm01_AddEquip]![frm01ListSetor]));
qry02_frm01ListEquip
SELECT tblEquipamentos.ID_Equipamento, tblEquipamentos.NomeEquipamento
FROM tblEquipamentos
WHERE (((tblEquipamentos.SetorEquipamento)=[Forms]![frm01_AddEquip]![frm01ListSetor]) AND ((tblEquipamentos.AreaEquipamento)=[Forms]![frm01_AddEquip]![frm01ListArea]))
ORDER BY tblEquipamentos.ID_Equipamento;
The code above works just fine. It filters data to previous selection accordingly and it also clears the data and selection of the "righter" lists every time another value is selected on the "lefter" ones.
So that was a form I created to help me out on populating my equipment database.
Let us get to the problematic twin now:
I created another form for Maintenance Orders of these equipment.
This one must be more user friendly since other people will use it. Therefore I used Combo-boxes for value selection instead of List Boxes. I say this before hand because it is the only thing I could notice that differs the new form from the one above.
Here I have this:
Screenshot of troubled form
After the expanded Combo-box on image 2 is selected I should run the following code:
Private Sub frm02SetorOM_Click()
DoCmd.Requery (qry04_frm02CBArea)
Me![frm02AreaOM] = Null
DoCmd.Requery (qry05_frm02CBEquip)
Me![frm02EquipamentoOM] = Null
End Sub
Private Sub frm02AreaOM_Change()
DoCmd.Requery (qry05_frm02CBEquip)
Me![frm02EquipamentoOM] = Null
End Sub
It is basically the very same thing I have done on the first form but with different variables.
But I get a "Run-time error 3021: No current record" every time I select a value on my "Setor" field.
The crash happens at the "DoCmd.Requery (qry04_frm02CBArea)" line.
Here is the query for this form's Area field (qry04_frm02CBArea):
SELECT tblAreas.ID_Area, tblAreas.NomeArea
FROM tblAreas
WHERE (((tblAreas.SetorArea)=[Forms]![frm02_SubmitOM]![frm02SetorOM]));
But the thing that is confusing me the most is that when I click "End" on the Run-time error dialog box, my Area combo-box - that was empty before - even with the error gets the proper options like if it actually "requeried".
How can I fix this issue?
Thank you in advance.
Btw, this is my first Access project so please consider that on the response.
this may seem like an odd question, but I am wanting to requery a form that is opened by another user. Basically I have two different main menus, that pertain to the role of the employee. On these main forms I display a menu with the counts of clients in each status. I then have a main form that holds the clients data. After I update the status field I am requery both forms. Now this requerys the menu that is open on the current user that changed the status, but it doesn't requery the other menu that is opened by the other user unless they close the menu and reopen. Is this possible to requery another subform of another user's form.
Here is my code below:
Private Sub status_ID_AfterUpdate()
On Error GoTo Problems
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdSaveRecord
Forms!frmNursesMenu!frmStatusCount_Nurses.Form.Requery
Forms!frmNursesMenu!frmStatusCount_Nurses.Form.Repaint
Forms!frmNursesMenu.Requery
Forms!frmNursesMenu.Repaint
Forms!frmAdminMenu!frmStatusCount.Form.Requery
Forms!frmAdminMenu!frmStatusCount.Form.Repaint
Forms!frmAdminMenu.Requery
Forms!frmAdminMenu.Repaint
Exit Sub
Problems:
Err.Clear
Resume Next
End Sub
You will need to use the form's timer event to requery the form every so often or look to see if the form needs a requery.
If your tables include a column with the time of the last edit then you could use that to see if the form needs a requery.
I have 2 forms. 1 subform.
The main form, MainFormF, has a subform which is hooked up to a query that takes data from a table and outputs it into a datasheet. Lets call this subform MainSubformF.
The 2nd form is loaded from a button on MainFormF. It has 2 buttons, previous and next. How do I attach these buttons to switch the next/previous record HIGHLIGHTED in the datasheet subform?
As you can see, that is what it looks like highlighted. It turns blue, if you didn't know.
The code I currently use but doesn't switch the selected records at all is this:
Private Sub Command65_Click()
On Error GoTo new_Err
Forms!MainformF!MainSubformF.SetFocus 'sets the focus to MainSubformF
DoCmd.RunCommand acCmdRecordsGoToNew
new_Err:
End Sub
For the button to open up the More Info form, it takes information from a text box (lets name it InfoTxt) with this as it's control source:
=[MainSubformF].[Form]![ProjectID]
I am thinking I can do something with that variable, like add +1 to it so when the button is clicked it adds +1 to the ProjectID? I don't think that will work now that I am typing this out, but I'll keep this here in case I am right... though I am thinking further into it and ProjectID's aren't always +1, as in case a record was deleted it may go 1,2,3,5,6 and if you get to 3 then click next it'll do nothing as it'll go to 4 not 5.
I simply don't have time to write out a complete answer, but Dev Ashish is a well-respected developer in the Access community and he devised a way to determine which records have been selected. My guess is you'll need to bookmark them somehow. Start with this Sub that Dev wrote:
Determine selected records in datasheet view
I am building an MS Access application in which all the forms are modal. However, after data change in a form, I want to refresh the parent form of this form with newer data. Is there any way to do it. To elaborate further :
Consider there are two forms, Form A and Form B. Both are modal form. From Form A, I initiate Form B, and now Form B has the user attention. But at the close of form B, I want to refresh the Form A. Is there a way to do it?
You can repaint and / or requery:
On the close event of form B:
Forms!FormA.Requery
Is this what you mean?
No, it is like I want to run Form_Load
of Form A,if it is possible
-- Varun Mahajan
The usual way to do this is to put the relevant code in a procedure that can be called by both forms. It is best put the code in a standard module, but you could have it on Form a:
Form B:
Sub RunFormALoad()
Forms!FormA.ToDoOnLoad
End Sub
Form A:
Public Sub Form_Load()
ToDoOnLoad
End Sub
Sub ToDoOnLoad()
txtText = "Hi"
End Sub
"Requery" is indeed what you what you want to run, but you could do that in Form A's "On Got Focus" event. If you have code in your Form_Load, perhaps you can move it to Form_Got_Focus.
I recommend that you use REQUERY the specific combo box whose data you have changed AND that you do it after the Cmd.Close statement. that way, if you were inputing data, that data is also requeried.
DoCmd.Close
Forms![Form_Name]![Combo_Box_Name].Requery
you might also want to point to the recently changed value
Dim id As Integer
id = Me.[Index_Field]
DoCmd.Close
Forms![Form_Name]![Combo_Box_Name].Requery
Forms![Form_Name]![Combo_Box_Name] = id
this example supposes that you opened a form to input data into a secondary table.
let us say you save School_Index and School_Name in a School table and refer to it in a Student table (which contains only the School_Index field). while you are editing a student, you need to associate him with a school that is not in your School table, etc etc
to refresh the form you need to type -
me.refresh
in the button event on click
