Sublime 2 installing packages fails with SSL Exception tlsv1alert - ssl

It's been some time since I used Sublime's package installer. I went to install a package today and find it fails with the following error in the console:
Package Control: Error downloading package. HTTP exception InvalidCertificateException (Host codeload.github.com returned an
invalid certificate ([SSL: TLSV1_ALERT_PROTOCOL_VERSION] tlsv1 alert
protocol version (_ssl.c:590))) downloading
https://codeload.github.com/seanliang/JavaPropertiesEditor/zip/1.1.2.
error: Package Control
This error occurs on every single package I try to install.
What is causing this error, and how can I fix it?
I am using:
Mac OSX
Sublime 2
Version 2.0.2
Build 2221

Back in February of 2018, GitHub deprecated older cryptographic standards on their platform, such that attempting to talk to any of their web API's using older versions of TLS results in an error. PackageControl uses an SSL connection to download packages (and refuses to talk to services that are not encrypted for safety reasons).
The error you're seeing here is a result of that change; the SSL support in older builds of Sublime can no longer communicate with GitHub because they can't negotiate a connection properly. This also applies to older builds of Sublime Text 3 as well; the issue was resolved in ST3 dev build 3158 and released to stable in build 3170 (Sublime 3.1).
Sublime Text 2 is no longer supported or updated and while most things still work, this is a case of something that won't. In addition on MacOS ST2 uses the system packaged python interpreter, which is problematic on more recent builds of MacOS where the Python version changed (e.g. packages may break unexpectedly).
Short of upgrading Sublime to a more recent build, the only recourse you have would be to manually install and/or upgrade the packages that you want to use.

How can you install 3.11.x from 3.10?

I'm trying to upgrade my version of RabbitMQ using chocolatey. This package has Erlang as a dependency, so installs the relevant version required. I've gone from 3.9.19 to 3.10 fine. However, when I try and go from 3.10 to 3.11.7 I get the following error:
beam\beam_load.c(169): Error loading module elixir:
This BEAM file was compiled for a later version of the run-time system than 24.
To fix this, please recompile this module with an 24 compiler.
(Use of opcode 178; this emulator supports only up to 176.)
ERROR! Failed to start Elixir.
error: {error,
{elixir,
{bad_return,
{{elixir,start,[normal,[]]},
{'EXIT',
{undef,
[{elixir,start,[normal,[]],[]},
{application_master,start_it_old,4,
[{file,"application_master.erl"},
{line,293}]}]}}}}}}
I don't know why this is happening, or if it's even a problem. I've not been able to find anything on this error. When I run RabbitMQ it appears to be running ok with the right version of Erlang. However, this error suggests that it's attempting to use Erlang version 24 (which was already installed as part of installing 3.9.19). How is it deciding what version of Erlang to use here? I checked my environment variables and it the ERLANG_HOME is set correctly.
Update
I tried going through the process again and installing rabbitmq 3.9.19 from chocolatey, upgrading to 3.10.1, then using the choco command to uninstall just Erlang 24.0 (using force). I then upgraded rabbitmq to version 3.11.8. This got rid of the previous error but showed another one stating:
ERLANG_HOME not set correctly.
Please either set ERLANG_HOME to point to your Erlang installation or
place the RabbitMQ server distribution in the Erlang lib folder.
However, when I checked the ERLANG_HOME environment variable it seemed to be set correctly, in that it was pointing now at Erlang OTP and not erl-24.0. So why is this error thrown?

Typo3 6.2 Upgrade Version Matrix Issue

I am trying to upgrade from Typo3 6.2 to a later version (to be determined). When I run the Core Update in the install tool the 'Fetched list of released versions' works, however, it is then followed by a 'General error'. In the log, this is the error:
Core: Exception handler (WEB): Uncaught TYPO3 Exception: #1380898792: No version matrix found in registry, call updateVersionMatrix() first. | TYPO3\CMS\Install\Service\Exception\CoreVersionServiceException thrown in file /home/usr/public_html/typo3/sysext/install/Classes/Service/CoreVersionService.php in line 271. I have looked around for ages and can't find a fix that works. I will be very grateful for any help, please.
I don't think that you can update such an old Version by the install-tool update mechanism any more. since that version a lot has changed.
newer versions of 6.2 are only available as paid service (ELTS) from the TYPO3 GmbH.
And I think the server structure also changed meanwhile so that old ULRs might fail.
your way of update should be a manual update to (any outdated version of) 7 LTS, then the same for 8 LTS until you come to 9 LTS and 10 LTS
on each version do the upgrade wizards and fresh up the extensions if possible (including the upgrade wizards of the extensions).
individual extensions need their own updates.
use the deprecation log on each version to identify possible failures for the next TYPO3 version.
somewhere between you might change the installation to composer installation, which will result in a cleaner update way (if you are familiar with composer). for the future it will be very helpful to understand composer.

"Main Not Found" starting Apache Geronimo

I am attempting to start Apache Geronimo using the command:
./bin/geronimo run
When I do this, it spins for a minute, issues the message "Main not found" and exits.
This article suggests that it is a system resource issue:
http://apache-geronimo.328035.n3.nabble.com/jira-Created-GERONIMO-5551-Failing-to-start-the-server-with-the-error-quot-Main-not-found-quot-td1324013.html
I have tried it on both an Amazon EC2 box (running Linux), and an Azure A1 box (running Windows Server), and I have tried the "Full Profile Release" and "Web Profile Release" of Geronimo, all with no change.
I'm at a complete loss as to what I could try. I am led to believe that the EC2 box, at the very least, should have the muscle to run Geronimo.
Any suggestions would be welcome.
Version 3 of Apache Geronimo is designed to run on JRE 1.7 instead of JRE 1.8. As stated in the other answers, the issue was caused by Geronimo being run on JRE 1.7 instead of 1.8.
You are not limited to JRE 1.7 and earlier in order to run Geronimo though. Therefore, all you have to do is to rename or copy the property jre-1.7 in the file etc/config.properties in your installation to jre-1.8. Afterwards, you should be able to run Geronimo without an error.
This has a huge benefit, since now you will be able to run programs on Geronimo that use Java 8 features.
It turns out that the issue is that I had the wrong version of the JDK installed. I had installed the most recent version (8), but Geronimo apparently won't work with that. When I instead installed version 6, everything worked fine.
I was getting the same error with Java 8. I tried the latest version of Java SE 7 and that resolved the problem. So I wouldn't use Java 6, since it is and has been out of support for awhile now (read: security issue).

Intellij apparently not getting installed, not running

i have a 32 bit Fedora 14 machine and I am trying to install IntellIJ IDEA on it, I used the package manager to install it. Along with that installation, also Eclipse and Groovy got installed.
Then I tried to install a new version of JDK but it didnt allow me to do so because of conflict with an older version of JRE, So I removed the JRE older version and installed JDK.
Then I have been noticing that IntelliJ refuses to run, I uninstalled and reinstalled and checked several times, but it just refuses to start, Then I opened a terminal and typed intell, hoping that the terminal would complete it for me, and I could launch the program from the command line, but no it said "intellIj:Command not found", whereas the same thing does not happen with Eclipse or Groovy.
I have tried restarting the machine several times, uninstalled and then reinstalled the packages several times, but nothing seems to work. I am not sure whether Intellij is getting installed or not, but the Package Manager does not show any error while the software is being installed. Any ideas as to why this is happening, and how to get around this problem?
You should try to install it manually by just extracting tgz file downloaded from producer website. Then you start IDE by launching IDEA_DIRECTORY/bin/idea.sh

WixUI_Advanced fails ACK for per-user test

I am creating an desktop app MSI that using WixUI_Advanced for dual scope support. However the production MSI causes a warning on Windows App Certification Kit:
WARNING Install to Program Files
* Warning: The install to Program Files test detected the following errors:
* Program xxxx fails due to install location C:\Users\user\AppData\Local\Apps\XXX
I was confused. The ACK being used is the Version 2.2, and the warning message shows the CORRECT behavior of a per-user installer (since install to Program Files requires privilege). But why it shows the warning? Are there any body have the same problem?
UPDATE
It seems like a bug of WixUI_Advanced. According to this article, the redirected folder name for per-user install is %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\XXX rather than %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Apps\XXX.
Even you set the install location to %USERPROFILE%\AppData\Local\Programs\XXX the same warning still shows, the same thing happens for ACK version 3.0 (for Windows 8.1) as well.
Furthermore, when doing an x64 per-user test it also warns for the uninstall registry keys. There is no way to set those keys in other ways.
Microsoft confirmed this warning is ignorable and will not affect the certification result, but they did not say anything about weather it is a bug or not, not saying any plan to fix either.
