Based on a url like
https://plus.google.com/123456789012345678901 # dummy number
How I can find the gmail username?
If you are developing an app or script, you can use Oauth 2.0 and request the userinfo.email scope.
For details, see https://stackoverflow.com/a/7836385/1354939
This does require that you configure a Google APIs Console project and create a OAuth 2.0 client ID.
You can't. For privacy reasons, having someone in a circle or knowing their Google Plus id should not be enough to get an email address.
It should not be possible to find an arbitrary user's email address solely from the id contained in such a Google+ URL.

I am trying to retrieve the user's information after getting the Music Token from the Apple Music API. It seems that the /me endpoint is not available for queries other than the storefront (https://api.music.apple.com/v1/me/storefront).
Problem is, I need to identify each user with a unique ID, so I need to retrieve any good information to do that (for example, the email address could be a good starting point).
From the Apple Music API developer page, I can't find any endpoint to do so. Is there something I am missing?
Thank you :)
No, you're not missing anything. It's really frustrating that you can't get any user data from the api, because it probably means you'll have to also provide another sign-on method like Google or email/password to get information. Apple has just released its own SSO here, but I think the user would still have to authenticate that and MusicKit.
I came across this problem with a company's intranet that we run (powered by Wordpress) - it's got us all stumped.
When attempting to authenticate a user using the Google Contacts API, an error is returned after granting permission to access the user's contact list and before full authentication is given, but no details are given as to what the error actually is.
It was working absolutely fine until one day in late April/early May it suddenly stopped working.
We we're using the following scope: http://www.google.com/m8/feeds/contacts/default/full.
An interim solution has been put into place, using the Google+ API instead. This is working well, except that the API is not providing the user's email address after authenticating, only their profile details.
We absolutely need the email address in order to limit access to the website to people with certain email addresses, as well as intergrate properly with WordPress' user management, generating new user accounts and linking them to authenticated email addresses.
We'd really appreciate any help!
You're not providing much in the way of details, but Google+ Sign-in should have what you want, and it comes with pre-cooked PHP code, see https://developers.google.com/+/quickstart/php
Also, you can go through the basic login flow and if you use a scope like "openid email" you’ll definitely get the email address; see https://developers.google.com/accounts/docs/OAuth2Login
In my app I want to show the Google+ profile picture for a user.
The only function, I found, in the API to get the profile picture needs a userId.
However, I only have their email adress and not their Google+ userID.
Moreover the person, whose image I want to get, should not be forced to log in and authorize my app, as this person is mostly not identical to the user of the app.
So I think I need to get their userId by email. I read through the Google+ API documentation but can't find a way to do this, but I can't believe that this is not possible.
So my question is:
How can I get the Google+ userID with only an email address?
Is there maybe an other Google API to get a profile picture?
There is an API provided by https://www.avatarapi.com/ which returns the user's name and profile pic from an email address based on Google's public info.
It can be called via SOAP or HTTP at this API endpoint:
https://www.avatarapi.com/avatar.asmx
One of the benefits of this API is that it does not require the user to be authenticated with Google via OAUTH, so this could be exactly what you are looking for.
You can't do this using just their email address, however, if they paste their Google+ url, you could parse the id from the URL string and then get their profile image (and cover image!) using the public data API. The url: https://plus.google.com/me will bring you to their profile.
I highly doubt this is possible. Any kind of querying against the Google Plus API requires OAUTH. What's more, I'm not aware of way to query for a user ID by email address in the first place.
This thread would seem to confirm that this is currently not possible.
You can use the people.search API to search by email address and without requesting the user to authenticate. However, that will only search the public profile fields, which email is not a public field by default.
The only API methods that require OAuth are those that access private data. For public data, you can use the more simple API key method.
To reliably achieve what you are describing, you'll want to use Oauth and the plus.me scope to get the information that you want. This does require authorizing your app however.
I'm wondering how Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn (to name a few) are using the Windows Live API to find the email addresses of the friends of a user to send them invitations.
When I try to use the Windows Live API I only get the email_hashes which can only be used to compare with existing user email of a system instead of sending them invitations.
Are these services paying Microsoft to benefit of an advanced API ?
Thank you,
Sébastien
All you need to do is add the following scope to the list of scopes you are requesting:
"wl.contacts_emails"
e.g.
WL.login({scope: ["wl.basic", "wl.contacts_emails"]})
i want to know if its possible to get the email of the people who are using open id to authenticate to my site [of course with the user knowing that i am getting their email]?
this email will be the user id of the user and i want the user to be able to loggin using any provider and then i will set this email as the user identity.
i need this information in order to design the structure of my site.
i am looking into the following open id providers.
Gmail
Yahoo
Facebook Connect
Hotmail
thanks
Use open social API's...
OpenSocial defines a common API for social applications across multiple websites. With standard JavaScript and HTML, developers can create apps that access a social network's friends and update feeds.
Refer to this link for more:-

Who says the OpenID provider has the user's e-mail to give to you? I can get an OpenID identity that's accessed only by my fingerprint.
