I accidentally deleted fifty thousand files from dropbox. The event still exists in my dropbox, so I tried to restore these files, as shown in the picture below. However, after clicking "Restore these files", it shows a message "Too many files please use the desktop application"
Do you have any suggestions? Please help me out, thank you!
I was faced with the same issue and here is what I did (which worked):
It seems that "desktop" message is just a generic one. I tried
working thru the desktop but found no option.
Went back to the Dropbox home page on the web. It has a trash can icon which one can toggle to either show/hide deleted folders. I did "show deleted folders". Then on clicking deleted folders, I was able to get to "restore folder" option.
However, that did not work and I got the message that there were too many files in the folder, contact support Luckily, my folders had multiple sub folder under it. I was then able to go to each sub-folder and restore. The largest sub-folder that i was able to restore in one click had about 25K files.
By the end of the process (sub folder by sub-folder), I was able to restore all 50K files.
Note: You may have to do this within 30 days of deletion to recover (unless you have a pro or business accounts)

I'm trying to remove a workspace (or clone it to look like the parent, but I can't seem to do either). When I try, however, I get this message: Cannot remove workspace test_workspace, because it has a non-empty default group.
From what I've read, it means that there are active files (as shown by the 3 little green dots to the right of stream). I've tried everything to get those to go away but they just seem to stick around and therefore result in me being unable to remove the stream.
Alternatively, I could completely wipe out the stream and replace with the parent version, but I can't seem to do that either.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
You need to purge the active files in this workspace.
Open the workspace and click on the "Default Group" filter -> select the files -> right click -> revert to backed.
If no files appear in the "Default Group" filter, click on the stranded filter and do the same as above to revert those files.
If you are using AccuRev 6.x, click on the outgoing mode and click on "Member" and "Stranded" to get a list of the active files.
Once you have done that, you can remove the workspace.
Similar problem here, fixed it following #jstanley's comment.
Open Workspace-> select it-> right click-> Edit.
In that prompt, I set the Location path to where I wanted it to put it on my local machine. For some reason, it was unable to "create a folder" and threw errors, so make sure Append Workspace name is unchecked and you select a folder that already exists.
It then populated the folder on my local machine attached to the workspace. And revert to basis worked, so afterwards I could remove the workspace and delete the folder.
When I go to set the Image on a regular Button, and get to the Select Resource dialog, I can select an imported resource, but the preview does not show up. This is true for all of the imported resource images, not just one of them. If I try to go on and hit OK, it still says "(None)" in the Image property of the Button.
I've tried deleting the resource files and re-importing, both from the Select Resource dialog, and from Project Settings -> Resources. Under Project Settings -> Resources, the images show up just fine. All of the images are PNG's and were previously working yesterday.
Any suggestions?
I was able to resolve this by doing the following:
Remove all image resources from the program.
Look through all of *.Designer.vb files of for lingering references to the any of the image resources (I found a few).
Close completely out of Visual Studio.
Re-open the project.
Add the image resources back.
Is there a way to upload all the opened documents to the current site without having to load em manually?
At the moment for each opened document I select one and I press Ctrl+shift+U but it's kinda lame if you edited more than 10-20 files
thanks
There is no native function however I have this simple cheat I use:
Open up the find and replace dialogue
Do a search for a string that appears in all the open documents. The page title usually has something useful. Make sure "all open documents" is selected. Click "Find All"
The panel appears that shows you all the instances of your search (should be all the open files)
Highlight all the file names in the search results panel, right click, and click "put"
It actually only takes a few seconds and saves you the pain of having to put each file individually. This is obviously for cases where simply highlighting the files and clicking the put button isn't feasible (e.g. files in multiple directories, etc).
In CS6 (not sure about older versions), when viewing the local site, right-click on the project's parent directory, hover on 'Select' and then 'Checked Out Files.'
This will highlight all the files you have checked out and allow you to check them in with one click.
Note: As Dreamweaver gathers all of the check in status information from the server, this can take quite a while if it is a large project. Only suggested for smaller projects, in which case it seems to work great!
Following the same process, you can also select 'Recently Modified', which only searches your local site and is much faster (but doesn't directly answer the check in/out part of your question).
I hope this helps!
I was a big fan of the Get Put All Extension, but it does not work on CS4 or CS5.
Unfortunately, upload all open is not built in. A long while ago I wrote a Dreamweaver extension called Get Put All, which allows for getting or putting of all open documents. It should still be available for sale (probably $5 or under) at the CommunityMX web site (down for me at the moment). I no longer contribute to CommunityMX, so I won't see any proceeds. While written a while ago, it should work fine in newer versions of Dreamweaver.
Just found out how to do it.
Use ctr+select all the files in the tree view under files and then right click on the selected entries and click "put"
SOLUTION:
1) Click on "Site"
2) "Manage Sites" (Select the site you want to manage)
3) "Edit"
4) "Remote Info"
5) And tick the checkbox "Automatically upload files to server on save"
(See where I am going here)
Have all the files you want to upload OPEN on Dreamweaver
6) Then "Find" a common code each document has
7) And "Replace ALL" with the EXACT same code
*Make sure "Find in: OPEN DOCUMENTS" is selected before you do the replacement
Once Dreamweaver has find and replaced the exact code - all documents will be unsaved at this point.
8) Just click "Save All" and voila!!! Now your CTRL+SHIFT+U fingers can chill the F out!
Hope this helps!
Oh, Remember to uncheck "Automatically upload files to server on save" afterwards or when not needed
PS: When you click "Save All" - you might get Dreamweaver saying "NOT RESPONDING". Just leave dreamweaver alone until it's done because it's uploading files at a rapid rate depending how fast your internet is :)
I had a VBA project in outlook with a few email macros - but after a PC crash they are all gone and all I see is a fresh 'Project1' when I hit Alt+F11
I'm not a VBA programmer, but had a collection of handy macros for email sorting etc. I would not like to have to code them again. Anyone know where the code files should be on the filesystem so that I might rescue the code?
This page has some really good insight on where Outlook keeps all its stuff. It suggests the following:
All Outlook macros are stored in a single file named VbaProject.otm in the user's %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook folder, which will be a hidden folder on most systems.
Now, the problem is that if you do not see them now, then you probably won't be able to restore them from that location: there is probably either an "empty" project there or no project at all, but if that folder is being backed up, you might be able to restore it.
Moving forward, you might consider exporting your macros periodically in case this happens again, either through the VBA IDE (right-click and select Export File...) or using one of the tools mentioned in the linked article (like the Office Profile Wizard).
Ok. things to try to fix this...
I assume after the problem occured you tried logging back into the same windows user account, and the same Outlook profile.
Create a new windows login to the machine in question.
Login to this account and open Outlook, this will create a new outlook profile. make note of the profile name (to find this: Control Panel > Mail applet > Show Profiles...)
Now Exit Outlook, and make sure it is not running (check for outlook.exe in task manager).
Open Windows Explorer.
Copy (don't cut) the existing VbaProject.OTM file. (if it has any other name than that, first rename it to VbaProject.OTM, then copy).
Navigate to C:\Documents and Settings\USERNAME\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook
(or use the environment variable notation %appdata%\Microsoft\Outlook for vista/win7)
Rename the existing VbaProject.OTM to VbaProject.OTM.OLD
Paste the VbaProject.OTM from step 5 into this folder.
Reopen Outlook and test (i.e. Alt + F11).
Good luck with recovery.
If this doesn't work do you remember adding self signing certificate at all? If so have you got a copy of the cert? you can try reinstalling it into the certificate manager (certmgr.msc)
copy/install it to the Certficiates - Current User\Personal\Certificates hive.
I just found this note from Sue Mosher (outlook VBA guru):
"AFAIK, once an .otm file is corrupted, it can't be recovered. That's why I recommend that people who rely on VBA code export their modules or backup the entire file. "
All macros are embedded into an OTM file, under the following location:
C:\Users\(***Your User Name***)\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Outlook\VbaProject.OTM
To restore, replace this file with the older one, it should work
Ran into this same problem.
First reviewed the .otm file mentioned by #Anonymous Type and #Dave DuPlantis
Not corrupted... hmm
I checked my Ribbon in Outlook for the Developer tab. It was missing and simply re-adding it to my Ribbon fixed my problem.
I have an automated test running on my program that generates some large MPG files along with other files. After running the test, I have the script clean up after itself. The other files (a mix of binary and text files) are removed with no problems. The MPG files, however, don't get deleted. If I try and manually delete the MPG files from explorer after the test has run, they are removed from the explorer window only to reappear a few seconds later. Process explorer shows that they are being used by explorer.exe. Eventually, I am able to remove these files. Any idea why this is happening?
Is it possible that Explorer is holding onto the files to generate thumbs.db and perform its other work? I ask that because I've noticed considerable lag as Explorer evaluates every movie file in my media directories, even when in Details view. (You can tell, because the address bar of that Explorer window will become a progress bar, slowly -- ever so slowly on my box at home -- turning green.)
Is this behavior still exhibited if no Explorer windows are open to the appropriate directory?
It sounds like something is still hanging on to a reference to the file. Is it possilbe that you have shadow copy set up and it is trying to archive the file?
